Indirectly, the Porsche 911 [as owned by Martin Barre],
the lines are:

and
"Sabotage your nine-eleven"

You win R E S P E C T.
* The car that is referred to in the lines "Immobilize your nine-eleven" and "Sabotage your nine-eleven" is one of the many versions of the Porsche 911. The photograph below shows the Turbo 362 version: http://www.cupofwonder.com/twentyd.html#porsche
![[image] [image]](http://www.cupofwonder.com/turbo362.jpg) There is a double meaning in "Rhythm In Gold", I think. In fact there has been a gold-coloured version of the Porsche 911. Secondly, taking in account the context of the song, "Rhythm In Gold" also refers to a young and wealthy woman and the way she moves. Our narrator is attracted by both of them. Both images overlap eachother, coďncide - a feature Anderson has applied in many of his songs. * Jan Voorbij

I'll forego the cigar on the grounds I don't smoke but will happily settle for the respect of TT.
I wish Rhythm in Gold had the line 'nearly run down by your nine-eleven' as it would reflect my close encounter with Martin when he left the Sadler's Well's premiere night of 'The Water's Edge'. As he roared away in his then metallic green 911 [& very nice it was too] to escape the hoardes outside, he nearly clipped the four of us and others as we crossed Roseberry Avenue outside..........I wonder if he managed to scrap the first Mrs Q's DNA sample off the front bumper.

Nice! I was just listening to Nightcap yesterday afternoon while I was doing yard work and thought about this thread when that song came on.

If Ian is getting a Starbuck's kickback then he must be good buddies with Kenny G, the light-jazz musician with the long curly hair. He placed a big bulk of his fortune on Starbucks stock when it was first issued and is now super-wealthy as one of the largest owners of the company. Bet you guys didn't know that one lol.

Starbucks kick-back? I hate coffee.
[Spoken:] "Would you like another cup of tea, dear?" "Er, no, no, no, I'll better go actually, I'll be late for the office",
