Accept that Tull is my favorite band,I accept time marches on,but someone else playing flute and singing, forget it!This is as good as it gets?I remember Ian saying when will they stop,he at time said when they become a parody of themselves, well,it has happened!Tull is no more and this TAAB 2 is just another money play,I love the band but hate the business,it's over folks!

"Brain-storming, habit-forming, battle-warning weary winsome actor spewing spineless chilling lines-- The critics falling over to tell themselves he's boring And really not an awful lot of fun.
Well who the hell can he be when he's never had V.D., And he doesn't even sit on toilet seats?
Court-jesting, never-resting--he must be very cunning To assume an air of dignity And bless us all With his oratory prowess, His lame-brained antics and his jumping in the air.
And every night his act's the same And so it must be all a game of chess he's playing--
But you're wrong, Steve. You see, it's only solitaire."

I believe the original poster is inferring that someone other than Ian Anderson is singing and playing flute on TAAB2. I am certain that the original poster is not aware how many times Martin Barre played flute during Tull songs, nor is he aware of Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond's vocals and spoken word bits while he was bassist with Tull. Thus, his/her/its indignance is misplaced and not relevant.

Actually,am very aware, just face it ,it is now a cover band.
What exactly are you referring to? You say someone else is playing flute other than Ian. Where? There is no one else playing flute on the TAAB2 album. Vocals? I believe Ryan O'Donnell sings on the song "Swing It Far", but the rest is all Ian. Can you at least be specific?

We cannot expect the same Tull that we knew even 5 years ago. Ian is growing old--he has produced new material he has played in full in concert. He is at the age when many retire from their lifelong profession. I, along with many others, am thankful he makes the effort to write, record, produce, and promote new material even though (I suspect) he can easily retire and live a comfortable life
If he cannot deliver his profession as well as he once has, it is important to remember he is old. Get, he is recording and releasing new material, take it or leave it.
The glory days of Jethro Tull are over, but Ian still comes up with unique and creative material. If he needs help delivering it to the masses, I give him no criticism. He is an active musician, what more can we ask for? At least he is not a Roger Waters type--doing "The Wall" tour for the tenth time. Ian is doing Thick as a Brick tour for the second time, along with performing a full album of new material--us Tull fans are lucky.

Along the coast road, by the headland The early lights of winter glow I'll pour a cup to you, my darling And raise it up, say, "Cheerio"

I respect that. You know what you want as a Tull fan, and you choose to stick to the old Tull. Nothing wrong with that.

I Second the motion! The best Tull is the 70's, no doubt!

There's not too many of Ian's peers who continue to create new, unique work.TAAB2 is fantastic, as are the previous IA solo projects. Tull's most recent studio works - Christmas Album, Dot.com, RTB - some of their best. I'd be the first to pass on an old favorite who is just rehashing things [you know who your Fab selves are], but Ian ain't. Can't wait for Oct. 3 in The City of Sin!
