Seriously, they used to write ads like THAT? Just too weird...

But the questions that come to my mind are: Where are those 1000 shirts now, if even they still exist? And the past/present owners of said shirts? And did the shirt help them get any girls?

I'm just a very curious brat, ain't I? :P

Wow, was this in Playboy or something? I'd be surprised if even music mags at the time had a reference to jerking off. But yeah, that still is a problem for me. I'm all the time frowning and saying "jerk off, loser." Every day.

Actually, these would be inserted into the LP's between the sleeve and the cover. You'd be amazed by what some of the Rock magazines had in them. One of them, Crawdaddy I think, had a comic called Greta Groupie that got pretty funky.

Hello all. This is my first posting here. Just singed on via Facebook link. Been a Tull fand since '69 when my Air Force brother brought home some new music we in the States hadn't hear yet. The LP was called This Was. I've been hooked ever since! I was 11 years old then. I have all the albums, tapes and now CDs. I don't do bootlegs. The quality sucks. Anyways, great to be numbered with you! The ad below is typical british cheekiness. I love it. Peace!

Welcome, Tom, glad to see you here, and thanks for your introductory post. Pretty amazing that you jumped on the Tull ship right from the get-go way back when This Was came out. I am sorry I missed those years.....the first time I ever heard them was in 1975, when Minstrel was the current release.

Speaking of those two albums, This Was is right now locked in battle with Minstrel in the Gallery in our Album Wars competition, which you may be interested in participating in. Unfortunately though, This Was has lost its first eight wars, although personally I felt it should have beaten out War Child according to our nine-point analysis. But I was overruled by a majority vote in our democratic process!

You can find Album Wars, and a lot of other fun challenges and games, in our Be a Whizz Kid department.

Looking forward to your contributions here. Thank you for your interest in our board!

Well obviously the shirts have all been torn off by Tull-hungry women!

Welcome, John, we're glad you joined us over here. I know from having spent three years up in Buffalo, that it is Tull territory through and through! Ray, from Living with the Past is from that area, as you probably know, plus there are several other Tull tribute bands nearby in Ontario, Oracle is one, Cross-Eyed Mary (a new one, not to be confused with Cross-Eyed Mary from Colorado) and then I think the Grown Men are from up that way too.

Buf-a-fucking-lo! I loved the place, and sometimes I'm sorry that I left. A lot of fun memories from when I was up there. Saw Tull at the Aud for the Under Wraps show in 1984, returned in 1993 (or perhaps '94) for a show at the Shea Theatre and then again in 2000 to see them at the Erie County Fair.

So anyway, it's good to have you on board, and we look forward to your contributions here, including sharing your voluminous knowledge of the live shows with us! The next time I'm up that way for a Tull show, we'll have to get together for a few beers.

:-/

Jeff

I like how they say they will "rush" the shirt to you, and just below that in fine print is "Allow six weeks for delivery". ;D
