Yes, here's some. This was a duo, between some of my larger electric musical "situations"
I've been playing since I saw TAAB in 72. The next day I was renting a flute.
The second was at a Community College that had a music fest for the benefit of their AV and audio department and they did a lot of screwing around with our little bit, so sorry for the in and outs, but it still made it on to the local cable station! hahaha.

Darin, I must have been away from the board for a few days when you first posted it. Great work on both of those! I like the improvisation on Serenade to a Cuckoo, and how you weren't a slave to the original.

I see now that the bridge in the middle was some Dave Brubeck that you threw in there, and it works very well as a medley with Serenade.
Am I correct to say that your styling of this includes a healthy dose of the the way Roland Kirk played it, not only Ian? I thought I detected certain little jazzy riffs from Kirk's version, which Ian does not play.

Thank you Jeff In serenade from the "solo" on to take five was just a jam in Gm and Em and having listened and learned from Ian and all the flute players I could find over the years including Jeremy Stieg and Kirk it just sort of comes out that way, all I hear is Ian, I was somewhat rusty at this point and I always fall back to my roots which is Tull. Seth, the guitar player had only been playing a year or so and I was responding to his request to help him out playing "coffee house" gigs. He did not know Tull at all and was having a hard time playing "smooth" laid back stuff like Bouree, or Serenade. The result was less improv and inter play. He Was pretty imaginative though and we put together a set and a half of originals in a couple of weeks. It was my idea to throw in the Tull and Bruneck covers.(naturally! Ha) So he had to play things pretty verbatim is what I'm trying to say. There a bit more on that You Tube channel if you care to look. When I look back at the originals now, they're not half bad. i screa- i mean sing wery badly (I sound like a bad version of Udo Dirkschneider) and play guitar. But i have come to notice im never goin to get good at guitar either ...hahah. And ive actually been considering bout gettin a flute, tryin out somethin new. My friends laughed their asses off at this idea, but whatever (those bastards) And i did play drums in elementary school, but i never owned a set myself so it was only in school every chance i got (Damn teacher had to drive me away from the class to recess sometimes when i refused to stop playin)
I dont care do they laugh at me or with me. They're still laughs.

Here's a couple of tracks from a recording project/CD that I put together in 97/98 The first, "Whumper", I play Flute and keyboards, Andy Abad: electric guitars, Lee Burkhart: Frettless bass, Julio Figueroa: Drums
The second one starts a little slow but really picks up after a bit, titled "Bones". I play Flutes, keyboards and Wind synthesizer, Andy Abad: electric guitar, Lee Burkhart: Fretless Bass, Julio Figueroa: Drums and Perc.
pretty sick darin.. top notch musicianship and production all around. I would be proud of that.
Thanks, thats pretty nice coming from you...I've been admiring the guitar work in LWTP, very nice. You obviously know where the woodshed is. The co-producer, engineer and studio owner is a very, very talented guy and a good friend, he has real amazing "ears". It counts more than I ever knew.
This band was picked up by a management firm and slated to leave on a summer "Alsace wine barge" tour, in France/Germany opening for Rick Derringer (!! ;-)) and another proggy type band. Fully paid travel, lodging, wages and insurance. We just had to pay for our drinks. The departure date fell on the same date as the prospected birth of our first child........Guess what I picked. It was enough that we got the offer. As it happened my son was born 6 weeks pre-mature and the shit hit the fan for that summer, he's fine, but I wouldn't have been!!! It was a great last hurrah, I knew a musical life was harder than I wanted life to be anyway. I have a couple more to post. Thanks again I'll bring my flute to Buffalo someday.......

Here's another from the CD Bones "Para Mi Desconocido" (For My Unknown) I wrote this and dedicated it to my yet to be born son in 1997 If you watch this to the end you'll see him....(My wife is Cuban hence the spanish!) Andy Abad: Acoustic Guitars, Charango (A Latin Mandolin) and Tres (A traditional Cuban 3 string Guitar) Lee Burkhart: Electric Stand Up Bass Julio Figueroa: Cajon, Rainsticks, Shakers and "Birds" Myself: Flutes (many!) and recorders. Note there's no keyboards in here those are all flutes, it's completely acoustic.
Another quick note here, I'm not hawking anything here, this is not for sale, in case I sound like I'm selling something I'm posting these here because in 1972 I was a "little boy stood on a burning log" and seeing TAAB, Ian lit a fire under me! I learned every song Tull put out from 68 through the nineties, So Ian was my first teacher! I put on records and played with Tull everyday. These recordings were the culmination of many years of playing and writing songs (good or/and bad ) So when I saw this thread "Do you play?" I thought perfect! and that some of you might appreciate the reason why. I appreciate being able to share them here. Thanks for putting up this nice place! Darin Cody

I agree, the composition is very nice, and it's well-performed and recorded. I hear some of the Latin influence in some of the melodies. I dig it, nice job.

Darin, I loved your recordings and your flute playing style! If you have more, I'd be happy to hear
I myself am a classically trained (and still in training!) flute player and singer, and I play some bass guitar too (at least here I can say without being given funny looks that I learned the entire 'Passion Play' on bass ). I am part of a band, but we are currently rehearsing our new album and don't have any recordings yet.

Yes, Darin's a great musician. He plays Tull very well and his original stuff is tasteful and well done. How do you like that bassline for Passion Play. I have worked on the guitar and bass parts myself for years. I think you'll agree that although Ian wrote the parts it still takes a very capable musician to pull it off. And they say Jeffery wasn't a real bass player

Wow Thanks all. Erin, If I ever replicate that cd I'm going to send them all to you to sell! hahahah, thanks for the kind words.
Heres more of Skater Down, that we only screwed up a little (!)
and since posting that "...Desconocido" I pulled out the bad VHS I did the night that we recorded it. All of the video parts actually coincide with the tracks laid down. You have to make it to the end though, I'm recording keyboard "samples" through an echo (my favorite thing) for the begining of another song posted here, "Whumper" I loved working on stuff in the studio it was a blast.
Prompter and Tulltapes, regarding the APP bass. Lee, the guy playing bass on my CD stuff was a Juliard educated bass and Tuba player, wasn't a big Tull fan, but he loved APP when I introduced him to it. I told him that Jeffery wasn't a "proper" bass player and seeing Jeffery jumping around during the APP videos I had, he "aloudly proclaimed", "Shiiiiit! no bass player my ass, I couldnt do that!" Coming from him, that's something. Darin
