Many moons ago I mentioned to Serge(Janu) how much I loved the music of Genesis. Being a HUGE TULL FAN does not diminish my respect for the group I consider the most PROGRESSIVE. In Honor of their many bizarre and creative performances, here is :
Genesis recorded for the Belgian TV show "Pop Shop" March 20-21, 1972. 4 SONGS: The Fountain Of Salmacis, Twilight Alehouse, The Musical Box, and The Return Of The Giant Hogweed

That was a real treat
Loved Genesis in the Gabriel era, not so keen on the Phil years. Genesis were my second live band experience in 1972 and I think my jaw was near the floor the whole way though

Dearest Passion Play, You are indeed a Progressive Lady. I hope your jaw has recovered. Let's not be too harsh on Phil Collins. He did make Genesis alot of money. Although Peter Gabriel is still beyond belief on stage. I voted him Prog God!

let's not forget that Phil was a big part of the early Genesis as one of the best rock drummers in history. These videos were some of my first exposure to the good Genesis when I was young. We used to watch what I called the "white room" video over and over on an old grainy VHS. Amazing stuff!
My favorites are Selling England and the Lamb but Trick of the Tail with Phil at the helm is one of the best! There was a few good ones after that but it soon went downhill. They were supposed to reunite with Gabriel a few years back and perform The Lamb, that never developed. Bummer

GENESIS 1976
Back in '76, I had hair just like Michael Rutherford. He was my favorite member of the band. I miss my Rock n' Roll hair from those days. That's what getting married can do to you.

Sorry, truly appreciate Peter Gabriel and all, but the concerts to see were supporting the Trick of the Tail album, from which came the live album Seconds Out. Loved seeing the concert and love the live album (one of the best live rock albums ever). That was Genesis at their musical height: right after Gabriel left and prior to Steve Hackett leaving.
And your little sister's immaculate virginity wings away on the bony shoulders of a young horse named George, who stole surreptitiously into her geography revision...

The 76 shows (especially w Bruford) must've been incredible and I would feel very lucky to have been able to have seen it. They may have been musically at their height? But if I could go back I would want to the see 'The Lamb' or other Gabriel era shows. I have seen The Musical Box re-create (to a T) the classic genesis concerts? It is a show not to be missed if the opportunity arises.

I was shocked when Gabriel left, however the new music that followed was worthy of his legacy. I remember Phil Collins complaining that no one would write anything about the other members of the band. They only wrote about Pete and his wild costumes. I wonder why?
