2011 NFL Football Thread « Thread Started on Sept 25, 2011, 4:08pm »
I didn't see a current thread on the NFL season (the Giants don't count ).
The Lions were down 20-0 after the first half and came storming back to beat the Vikes 26-23 in OT. I would not say this is my father's Lions, because his Lions won three titles in the 50s. These are my damn Lions, and I've waited my whole life for a frickin' good team. Looks like I got one finally (although Barry made it exciting in the 90s).

I've been posting about Green Bay on 'Lambeau Field' but we can have a NFL Football thread too. I hate the Vikings like the way I hate the Cowboys. Thanks for putting them on life support. The Lions have had a lot of improvements and will be tough to beat. Congrats on your 3 - 0 start. Victory!

I've been sending Paul messages from Bridget the Tull Beagle. She requested that the New York Giants show no mercy on Michael (Pit Bull) Vick today at Philadelphia. Of course Bridget doesn't hate anyone but she dislikes people who abuse animals. Bridget is very happy with the victory over the Eagles and the Giants defense took care of Mr. Vick. Well done Giants! Giants 29 - Eagles 16 Victory is Sweet.

Here's hoping the Lions defense puts Tony Romo and "America's Team" out of everyone's misery. I am so tired of hearing hype about the Cowboys. They should have lost to the Redskins last night, but unfortunately, the Redskins are the Redskins, and managed to give the Cowboys a win they certainly didn't deserve.
Did anyone watch the game last night? I don't think I've ever seen a team make so many mistakes and seem so out of sync as the Cowboys, but still win. Their center should be waived for lacking the ability to hike the ball.

The Lions are for real. They beat Jerry Jones and his 'boys 34 - 30. How do you blow a 27 - 3 lead at home Jerry? The Packers won't play them till Thanksgiving. Maybe they will cool off by then. Congrats all you Lions fans!

I just wanted to tell Paul his Giants played a tough game at home and finished strong. I felt it would be close but great teams win the close ones too. Giants 27 - Bills 24

Paul, did you get a tattoo like this guy?
Thanks Jim.
We are a work in progress but we can be very tough if we don't turn the ball over.
We can get after the quarterback like no other team, and Eli is playing great ball. He's a legitimate top 5 QB right now.
I hope we can you guys a good game later this year!

Texans are better than I thought. J.J. Watt made a huge play that turned the game. Texans 31 - Bengals 10 If Saints get past 49ers, Lambeau Field will be very cold. Saints 45 - Lions 28.

I won't make excuses for the Lions, as the Saints were clearly the better team; however, the Saints OL didn't get called for a single holding penalty the entire game, and even the announcers mentioned the outrageous holding that was not called. And then, of course, there was fumble that should've been a Lion's TD but the ref blew the whistle prematurely.
Oh well, no crying over spilled milk. This was the best Lion season in a decade, and I can at least look to next season for even greater achievements. The Lions finally got the franchise QB that has eluded them since the curse of Bobby Layne -- before I was born!

The Curse of Bobby Layne on the Lions
Detroit news2008-10-02: -- It's half-myth, half-legend and all conjecture. Logically, it's hard to believe. But when dissecting the Lions' half-century of futility, why bother with logic? Nobody seems to know if the Lions' greatest quarterback ever, Bobby Layne, cursed the franchise when he was traded to Pittsburgh on Oct. 6, 1958. Newspaper archives reveal no evidence of the phrase supposedly muttered by Layne -- that the Lions "would not win for 50 years." It's not really important who heard it (officially, no one) or who believes it (um, you?).
