I hesitated to play this for about 10 seconds. Then I realized it was to much to overcome. This is great although the camera angles are limited by the heads to the left. Ryan O'Donnell has provided a real vocal quality and charisma to this performance. What is the stick he is carrying around? Is this another type of flute? Ryan Rocks!

Thank you for posting. This is what many Tull fans have been waiting for, for years! That is to say.. Ian, let someone else handle those (now) more difficult vocals. This is going to be the the show to see in 2012. Ryan is brilliant!

This video, coupled with the news that IA will be at this year's Montreux festival are great to hear. I just hope the festival's performance will be recorded for a live DVD/Blu-ray in the future!

Here is a review from http://annularmedia.blogspot.co.uk/#!/2012/04/ian-anderson-thick-as-brick-tour-live.html 40 years is a bit long to wait for a sequel to anything, but the release of the second instalment of the definitive prog rock album 'Thick As A Brick' was well worth the wait. To mark this huge event, Ian Anderson took it on the road, performing both albums in their entirety and we caught the performance at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.
The musicians (we didn’t know at the time) came on stage dressed as janitors; complete with brown coat and cap, they proceeded to sweep and dust around the stage before discarding their disguise and Ian Anderson took to the stage. The band went straight into the ever so familiar opening melodies of the original album, the majority of the audience awe-struck with the prospect of witnessing such a rare event. I can’t understand why the album has not been performed in it’s entirety since 1972; it’s such a classic piece of work and there is (and has been over the last 40 years) a potential massive audience waiting for it.
As the original 'Thick As A Brick' featured Anderson playing many instruments simultaneously, he needed some extra help on stage. This came in the form of Ryan O’Donnell, who amongst other things, has been performing on the stage production of Quadraphenia. He contributed heavily to the vocals, leaving Anderson free to play flute and guitar; something which worked very well. This first part of the show was tight and true to the original, though sounding fresh enough to still be relevant. There was some clever use of projected imagery to emphasise the story line as well as the added dressing up and acting of O’Donnell, who strutted about the stage in a world of his own (Gerald Bostock’s world actually).
The theatrics and music fitted in perfectly and the simulated Skype call to Anna Phoebe and subsequent her violin contribution to the set was a nice touch. The audience bereft of an opportunity to applaud (as the original album consisted of only 2 tracks), rapturous applause greeted the first break in the music. With Anderson’s advice to get a prostate examination to the older male members of the audience, the set continued. The band was tight and sound clear. There was a slight interlude with Scott Hammond’s drum solo before the 20 minute breather before TAAB2.
The second set was introduced on video by Archibald Parritt (Anderson himself) and the poetry, rock and theatre continued. They ploughed through the new material with pomp and a great deal of expertise. Anderson still able to stand on one leg (though not for as long as he used to) whilst playing the flute was ably accompanied by some solid guitar from Florian Opahl, chunky bass from David Goodier and some remarkable, mood-setting keyboards and accordion from John O’Hara. Ryan O’Donnell was very good, acting out Bostock moments and singing uncannily like a young Ian Anderson whilst occasionally ready a copy of the St. Cleve Chronicle & Linwell Advertiser. To the closing bars of the last song, the audience rose to applaud in unison and as Anderson introduced the band members via video, the contentment was complete. This was a great evening of prog rock that has shown that Ian Anderson can still write and perform to the highest level and his story telling is a good as ever. We just have to wait for the next installment.

I just watched the vids....other than some expected cringe-inducing vocals from Ian, I'm seriously impressed! The playing sounds tight and true to the original. I'm very impressed with what I'm hearing from Scott Hammond's drumming and Florian seems to have morphed into a young Martin. I wasn't sure what to think about the Broadway dude's vocals at first, but it works. Clever opening vid too, with Dr. Maximillian Quad lol.
Sucks that I'll have to wait until October to see this live, but it looks like it will be well worth the wait.
