Another known as ship of fools song released by Peter Hammill from his album "Fireships" which I greatly worship.
I expressly recommend all of you listening the next song, it's an exceptional, terrific tune from the same album . Synthesizers, Keyboards, electric guitar, Peter's rough voice, the whole snatch your mind. No ships quotes though worthy a listen. I couldn't withstand to divulge it. Sorry.

Jefferson Airplane
Crosby Stills Nash and Young
Black sails knifing through the pitchblende night Away from the radioactive landmass madness From the silver-suited people searching out Uncontaminated food and shelter on the shores No glowing metal on our ship of wood only Free happy crazy people naked in the universe WE SPEAK EARTH TALK GO RIDE THE MUSIC
If you smile at me you know I will understand Cause that is something everybody everywhere does In the same language I can see by your coat my friend that you're from the other side There's just one thing I got to know Can you tell me please who won You must try some of my purple berries I been eating them for six or seven weeks now Haven't got sick once Probably keep us both alive Wooden ships on the water very free and easy Easy you know the way it's supposed to be Silver people on the shoreline leave us be Very free and easy Sail away where the mornin sun goes high Sail away where the wind blows sweet and young birds fly Take a sister by her hand Lead her far from this barren land Horror grips us as we watch you die All we can do is echo your anguished cry and Stare as all you human feelings die We are leaving You don't need us Go and take a sister by her hand Lead her far from this foreign land Somewhere where we might laugh again We are leaving You don't need us Sailing ships on the water very free and easy Easy you know the way it's supposed to be Silver people on the shoreline leave us be Very free And gone NO C'MON GO RIDE THE MUSIC C'MON RIDE IT CHILD

Black Sabbath - Sign Of The Southern Cross
From the book, the word is spoken Whispers from forgotten psalms Gather all around the young ones They will make us strong Reach above your dreams of pleasure Given life to those who died Look beyond your own horizons Sail the ship of signs

Here are some Pink Floyd songs for the topic
Pink Floyd - Lucufer Sam
Lucifer go to sea. Be a hip cat, be a ship's cat. Somewhere, anywhere.
Let There Be More Light
Far, far, far away - way People heard him say - say I will find a way - way There will come a day - day Something will be done. Then at last the mighty ship
Julia's Dream
Sunlight bright upon my pillow Lighter than an eiderdown Will she let the weeping willow Wind his branches round Julia dream, dreamboat queen, queen of all my dreams Every night I turn the light out
Echoes
The echo of a distant tide Comes willowing across the sand And everything is green and submarine And no one showed us to the land And no one knows the wheres or whys
Comfortably Numb
There is no pain, you are receding A distant ship smoke on the horizon You are coming through in waves Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying When I was a child I had a fever My hands felt just like two balloons Now I've got that feeling once again I can't explain, you would not understand This is not how I am I have become comfortably numb
The Post War Dream
being so good at building ships the yards would still be open on the clyde
A Great Day For Freedom
On the day the wall came down They threw the locks onto the ground And with glasses high we raised a cry for freedom had arrived On the day the wall came down The Ship of Fools had finally ran aground Promises lit up the night light doves in flight

Woodenships, a stellar song for this thread about ships. I also had it in my batch, good find, Charly. The Sabbath's tube is no longer available to watch in my country, I did look for another different, one live, another terrific one. . What an outstanding Floyd hunts bunch you've just posted. . Awesome!
Thanks also geoffcb, Erin and My God for your contributions.
Standing on the water, casting your bread While the eyes of the idol with the iron head are glowing Distant ships sailing into the mist You were born with a snake in both of your fists while a hurricane was blowing Freedom just around the corner for you But with truth so far off, what good will it do.
And yesterday I thought the thread was over after checkin' the lack of posts. let's keep on playing.

Genesis
Window
High on a golden crested wave she sits The little nymphs dance in her hair The trees all beckon to the sky to bless their empty lives Horizons come to sip wine there The veiled mist reveals the wandering ship upon the reef The albatross flies to the stern But only Jack Frost saw the kiss you gave him in return
Broadway Melody Of 1974
Echoes of the Broadway Everglades, With her mythical madonnas still walking in their shades: Lenny Bruce, declares a truce and plays his other hand. Marshall McLuhan, casual viewin', head buried in the sand. Sirens on the rooftops wailing, but there's no ship sailing.
The Cage
But my cynic soon returns And the lifeboat burns. My spirit just never learns.
But my cynic soon returns And the lifeboat burns. My spirit just never learns.
This song has
'Far Out'
written all over it! If you can't have a flashback with this song, I guess you didn't party in 1974. Sounds just as good with Phil Collins singing because he shared vocals with Peter Gabriel anyway.

Chris Rea
Whatever Happened To Benny Santini
They say he could not fall of They say he could not fail The wealth and fame would fire his flame Just as soon as his ship set sail So whatever happened?
Steel River
I was born and raised on steel river I see it all like it was yesterday The ships and bridges they were all delivered From Sydney harbour to the Cisco bay And I met my love down on steel river We served our dreams and spent our childhood days In rainy streets we'd kiss away the shivers And hide from fear inside the latest craze Dancing to Motown Making love with Carole King record playing And oh how I loved you Say goodbye steel river

Gentle Giant!!! Wreck
The ship's rising up from the sea to the sky, cry, hey, hold on Just one sorry scream and a desperate cry, cry, hey, hold on Their lives pass before them before they die, hey, hey, hey

I’ll find some magic morning I’ll take a boat out on the sea Maybe run before the west wind To bring you songs of love And every fear for tomorrow In my head could surely lie And you and I, we’d be together
Thanks for this excellent Gentle Giant's ship and windy song, my dear dinosaur darincody

Loggins and Messina
No ship is mentioned in this tune. They are sailing off the coast of Jamaica in a sail boat, getting drunk every night with the ladies. Shit, who needs a boat for that?

David Bowie Space Oddity
Though I'm past one hundred thousand miles I'm feeling very still And I think my spaceship knows which way to go Tell my wife I love her very much she knows
Great job on the listing all of songs in this thread as well as in the windy section, makes it easier to see what we have added
great additions by darin, Jim , and Serge!!!!
Thanks Charlie, and now you can check that they're all alphabetically ordered, both ships and winds, much easier to use. Grand Bowie's and Messina 's songs by Jim & you
There was a young girl, who's heart was a frown cause she was crippled for life, And she couldn't speak a sound And she wished and prayed she could stop living, So she decided to die She drew her wheelchair to the edge of the shore And to her legs she smiled you wont hurt me no more But then a sight she'd never seen made her jump and say Look a golden winged ship is passing my way
