Maiden kicks ass!Rime Of The Ancient Mariner my favorite poem(Samuel Coleridge for you neanderthals!)put to music with perfection by maiden!Saw many a maiden tour, great shows musically and theatrically.
I want to say thank you to all Veterans. My freedom is protected by all who serve and have served. My Grandfather from World War I.
Lest we forget What they stood for What they gave their lives for What they returned to And what we have done to it.
Make what you do worthy of the sacrifices they made, otherwise their lives were given in vain.
Great photo Jim! and a really fine quote Quizz. This is my dad's older brother, Jack, standing with the knit cap on and the Thompson. 82nd Airborne in Italy 1944. He was killed on the last day of the Battle of the Bulge Jan 28 1945 2 mos shy of his 20th birthday, 4 mos shy of the end of the war in Europe. I've visited his gravesite in Belgium. Who knows what he might've become, how he would've changed our family, as good as it's been. But nothing would've kept him from being there. In 2000 I set out to find out how and where he died, all of this went unknown for years. I found guys he served with found a book about his unit with pages dedicated to him. I eventually joined his units association and went to they're final 3 reunions. A nicer bunch of people I've never met, fine gentlemen.

the 'lest we forget' is a quote from our remembrance Memorials, the rest is mine. My Dad was amongst the last of the BEF to evacuate Dunkirk, it humbles me to think what he went through, it amazes me he survived when so many died, and it dismays me that many veterans are forgotten in a world so obsessed by celebrity and selfishness. Well done for honouring their memories.

We all must remember the creator of this symbol.
In his days with Black Sabbath he was a Metal God. It was Dio that made it a symbol for Heavy Metal. We miss you Ruler of Heaven and Hell. "It goes on and on and on, Heaven and Hell"

I was raised on Tull from birth thanks to my dad. But going to high school in the late 80's/early 90's, I discovered metal and became a huge Metallica fan, still am to this day.

Am I still allowed to post here?
Great Maiden pics - love those guys too.
Anyone that loves Metallica is always welcome. I like poking fun at them because they can take it. "Enter Sandman" is always a favorite of mine. God Bless Metallica! My son taught me all about them. Heavy Metal owes them alot. The Black Album is Classic. At some point MTV decided not to play Tull after the Grammy controversy. That was MTV's fault.

James Hetfield grew up in my old neighborhood of Downey, I didn't know him but....Dave Alvin and John Bass of the Blasters did also. I think the boring quality of the place inspired something....!

I always loved Ronnie Dio. Great singer and a tragic loss that will be felt always.
And the oldest of the family is moving with authority.

Well said Chookie, It would not be Metal Day without Metallica being pissed off from time to time. Your wisdom shines through anything you had to drink.

Metallica set to perform at former Danish prison Dec. 5, 2011, 2:52 PM EST By David Eckstein Zap2it
Metallica are going back to the big house. The metal legends have announced plans to perform their 1991 self-titled album, also known as "The Black Album," at a former Danish prison.
Bing: Listen to music from Metallica
The quartet will play a concert in June 2012 at the site of Statsfaengsel in Denmark. The prison, which used to house serial killers and mass murderers, closed in 2006. So it should be safe for the estimated 40,000 concertgoers.
This is not the metal band's first trip behind bars. They filmed the music video for the title song to the 2003 album "St. Anger" in the San Quentin State Prison as hundreds of inmates looked on. http://music.msn.com/music/article.aspx?news=687733

I had heard that they might being putting off their European tour of 2012 because of the Euro woes. They said the probably would wait until 2013. It was a radio snippet and also mentioned other "major band" would not risk touring do to the situation in Europe. I did not catch the entire story. So I have source to reference this

1984 was a great year for Metal. It was the year for a German band named: Live from Greensboro, North Carolina opening for Ozzy Osbourne. Featuring Udo Dirkschneider on vocals, Wolf Hoffman on Flying V They were better than most bands could imagine. Kicking Ass was what they did for fun. "Balls to the Wall" Live from Japan 1986

Dammit, did not know that about Tony, right as they seemed set for a new beginning in the Sabbath legend, past laid to rest with new material ect.,wish him well. The new VH came out today,OK song but just cannot take em seriously with Eddies kid playing bass and not Mike Anthony, big tour and all but will pass unless Mike comes back to the fold, even then Daves voice pretty shot live but still a fun concert back in the day,Mikes background harmonies are missed in new song.
