Jethro Tull Concert in Iceland Sells Out in Seven Minutes
Tickets to a concert by the British rock group Jethro Tull in the concert center Harpa in Reykjavík on June 21 sold out seven minutes after ticket sales opened on February 2. Following the high demand, another concert was scheduled the day after.
At the concerts, Ian Anderson and his band mates will play the album Thick As A Brick, which hasn’t been performed in its entirety since released in 1972, visir.is reports.
The audience will also be able to enjoy part of the sequel, Thick As A Brick 2, which is in the making, as recently announced.
According to midi.is, the show will feature a more theatrical production with video and additional musicians. Jethro Tull last performed in Iceland in 2009 when tickets sold out in less than a day.

This goes to show that this move by Ian is going to be very popular. Most people are not going to care who plays this set, as long as it's Ian at the helm.
And the resurgence in popularity might spur Ian on to do more new stuff for a few more years yet!

Let's hope so. I don't mind Ian or Tull lightening my wallet for some more new stuff.

Wow, that sounds like something that would have happened when Tull was at the peak of their popularity. I bet there was a lot of bummed Tull fans in Iceland.
It will be interesting to see if this album charts at all. I don't think the Christmas Album did, but from the sounds of it, this one might have a chance

Ian Anderson will be embarking on a Thick as a Brick Two tour starting in mid-April, but he will be in Europe throughout most of the summer. Thankfully, Anderson will reach the US starting September 18th in Florida through October 7th in Newark, NJ. Although specific dates and locations have not been officially announced, there's a rumour for a second leg of US tour dates in October and November in the West Coast and Midwest.

PiL playing the same gig? Maybe Ian can get Johnny Rotten to guest vocal on Aqualung.

I posted in the other thread that pre-sale tickets went on sale today. I got two at $103 each, plus the usual TM charges. It's a smaller venue and a great theater for concerts, and I didn't really think those prices were too bad except for the TM fees.

Ian Anderson Announces the Thick As A Brick Tours for 2012.
Ian Anderson performs Thick As A Brick in its entirety for the first time since 1972, going out for a world tour commencing in the UK in Mid-April. Then, it's on to European countries in the late SprThick as a Brick Live Tour 2012ing and Summer before landing in the USA for two tours spanning September, October and early November.
This tour will feature a more theatrical production with video, additional musicians and a troupe of dancing elephants. (Just kidding about the dancing elephants: they don't dance.,...)
In 1972, Ian wrote the music (and the lyrics which were credited at the time to the fictitious character, 8 year-old Gerald Bostock, whose parents lied about his age) and recorded with Jethro Tull, Thick As A Brick. The record became a number one Billboard album and enjoyed huge commercial success in most countries of the world. The album featured only one song, lasting nearly 45 minutes. To accommodate the album on LP vinyl and cassette, the seamless track was split on both sides of the record. It reached number one on the US Billboard Pop Albums chart.
Tull then dutifully took the somewhat theatrical show on the road in the Great Britain, USA, and other world markets.
Since 1972, the album has never been performed in its entirety although a few minutes of the material have been a regular repertoire staple in both Tull and IA solo shows over the years.
Now, scheduled for performance again in 2012, Ian will take the original album to a theatre near you. It will be performed in its entirety in a theatrical setting with band, and additional guests.
Run time: TBA
Recommended for ages 8 and up. No babes in arms. All patrons must have a ticket regardless of age.

Well, the show is not coming to my area (yet), so I don't really have a decision to make(yet). I'm seeing Springsteen on April 1st and that may be my only concert of the year. (Actually I went to see the Carolina Chocolate Drops in February at a free event. Make it two concerts.)
I noticed the Tull homepage states and I quote "The 2012 tours feature the performance of Thick As A Brick One AND Two in most of the concerts." The key word being "most". Hmmmm.
