Unbridled passion from WARCHILD, NY's Tull Tribute band, taking the bit in their teeth performing "Hunting Girl" from Jethro Tull's 1977 album "Songs From The Wood" live at the Triad Theater in NYC on 1/14/12.
Very well done!
Don't think I've ever heard anyone try to tackle that one. How difficult is it to play?
Thanks Paul! It was a hard piece originally to learn on keyboards (especially finding a way of covering both John Evans's and David Palmer's parts together!), but once that was done, and after practicing a gazillion hours, it isn't too hard at this point to play in concert----and it's alot of fun...

WARCHILD AUDITION;
We would like to take this opportunity to find out if anyone out there is interested in becoming our new front man. In other words: WE ARE HOLDING AUDITIONS FOR THE IAN ANDERSON ROLE IN OUR SHOW.
Obviously: flute, acoustic guitar, vocal and theatrical ability are a must.
Please feel free to contact us by telephone or e-mail at your convenience. Shows are booked.
Thanks for posting this, Jim. If it's within driving distance for you and William, you should try to go!
Mike informs me that the bass player from the Genesis tribute band Trespass (who Mike and I recently saw perform at The City Winery), will be the front man for this show, and possibly future War Child shows, since their long-time frontman Paul Caruso has left the band.
Apparently, the Trespass bass player used to be the lead singer for a great 80's cover band called Witness, who when they played Tull, were so good that they were more of a Tull tribute band than a generic cover band that plays other bands too, as Witness did.
I've done a thread on Witness (see link below)....they were excellent.....however during their heydey they actually had two lead singers at different times. I'm not sure whether the Trespass bass player who will be doing the War Child show is the same frontman shown in these videos (I think so, but could be wrong), or whether he was the subsequent singer for Witness, maybe Icecreamman can clear that up for us.

WARCHILD is delighted to announce the addition of Flip Britton as our Ian! Flip brings to the stage his years of experience performing a Tull show in the band Witness as well as a new arsenal of musical instruments including saxophone, harmonica, recorder and a host of others used by Jethro Tull during their incredible career. We are also presenting our own Renée Spizz in the role of David Palmer (post transformation) on keyboards, glockenspiel, tuned percussion and whatever else we can pile on. Mike, Bobb, Joe and Erick remain at their posts on keys, bass, drums and guitar respectively. We've added a number of new songs to our repertoire as requested by the folks who honor us by attending WARCHILD performances including Something's on the Move, Farm on the Freeway and The Hare Who Lost His Spectacles. We are very much looking forward to saying hello and sharing a cocktail with our fellow Tull fans at WARCHILD's upcoming performances.
Here's what the media are saying about WARCHILD:
WARCHILD has earned rave reviews for the band's "painstaking authenticity" and its ability to "capture the youthful magic of Jethro Tull's live show circa 1971", and has been called "the picture of Tullian perfection" (Newsday)
"WARCHILD is a faithful re-creation of a legendary progressive rock band... it seemed as though we had stepped back in time" (Good Times Magazine)

I'm glad to see you guys are still performing. I thought it was the end when I saw you were looking for a new front man. Great news. Looking foward to the Beacon show. Maybe I'll see you's there. Paulie

Getting the WARCHILD van packed up and ready for our road trip down to Abingdon, Virginia for our Fri. night show to kick off Celtic Weekend at the Virginia Highlands Festival. Looking forward to hiking along the Appalachian Trail "where mountain men are kings and the sound of the piper counts for everything"!

Wow, I didn't realize that it was this weekend. I wish I could go down there with you.
Good luck with the show, Mike, I hope you get some good pictures and videos that you can post here, and tell us all about it!
