 Distill the Tull Song
« Thread Started on Jul 25, 2011, 8:33pm »

I have been doing something on my Facebook page lately, I don't know why I started this, but it gave me an idea for a new game. Not really a game but a mental exercise, in which one thinks very hard about the lyrics to a song, and then sums up what the the song means, or what it means to them.

But the summary must be brief, so let's say under fifty words.
The trick is to really try to distill the essence of the song in a well-written sentence or two.

By way of example, here are the first two from my FB page, which I am gong to try to do as much as possible. Wouldn't it be cool if we could come up with an index of these for the entire catalogue?

Orion - In this beautiful song, a prayer is offered to a benign celestial being looking down at the troubled world below.

Wond'ring Again - In this heartfelt, life-affirming song, a couple ponder whether to bring a baby into an overcrowded world stricken by pollution, poverty and cynicism. In the end they find hope and beauty through it all....and the answer to their question.

This could really be a fun thing to do!

Jeff

A self-depracating performer has sharp words for a specific detractor, but doesn't at all mind the hand he was dealt.

In very early winter, our hero pays a clandestine visit to the home of someone once special. In the cold, he comtemplates things that might have been as well was wondering aloud of things now taking place within the residence.

No, sorry. Pibroch's visit was to his own home and would therefore not be clandestine.

Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll, Too Young to Die-ie-ie

Hope that's right! I'll try one:

A musician muses on both his change of direction, and the speed of his life and decides that getting the basics right is quite important!
