The policeman in Baker St. Muse who won't let the author pay for a cheap hotel for Old Lady Grey? No, nice try, Bob, but that is not the answer I am looking for. In your example, the policeman is prohibiting the protagonist from offering to pay for the Crash-Barrier Waltzer's second-rate accomodations, but he is not refusing payment for any goods and services that actually have been rendered. So your answer is kind of close, but not exact. When I come up with these quizzes, I pay a lot of attention to how they are written, and I make sure that they are very precisely worded. In this case, the goods and services have been provided, but an offer of payment is then refused. Please keep trying! Jeff

Who refuses payment for goods and services? Cross-Eyed Mary? No, Chris, I'm afraid it is not Cross-eyed Mary, but I could see why you might think that because of the line "she'll do it for a song." But there is a tiny distinction, because in my example the goods and services are already rendered, it's past tense rather than future tense as in the line "she'll do it," which may be her general policy, but she doesn't actually render the service in a particular instance in the song. Since that was such a great try, I will tell you that you have got the gender right. Jeff

I've been deliquent but trying in my spare time. Dan Well, it has been narrowed down to a female earlier in the thread, so that should help. Jeff

LOL, Jerrylee, and yes The Girl in the Print Dress, it is. Congrats on your first lyric quiz triumph! So now we can finally proceed to a new batch of five, and for those of you who have just joined us, any and all IA songs are fair game. Stay tuned as I brew up some new ones..... Jeff
