Okay, here's a new game. Select a passage from Tull, then go to a site called babelfish and translate that passage from English to another language, and then from that language back into English. The result is guaranteed to be a lot of fun. For example, the first verses of Aqualung, translated from English to Portuguese, and then from Portuguese back into English, produces pure poetry: Sitting down in the bank of park, girls eyeing with intention me. The Snot is functioning below of its nose, greasy fingers that spot shabbily the clothes. Translating the same passage from English to Japanese, and then back to English yields this lyrical gem: The girl of the attention which uses the bad intention where it sits down in the bench of the park. Snot that nose, is running under the finger where the oil which it is accustomed to painting in ragged clothing is many. Here is the Babelfish link. There are plenty of lyrics and languages to choose from, so give it a whirl. It's yet another fun way to kill an entire afternoon! babelfish.yahoo.com/Jeff

English > Dutch > French > German > English
Oh in the sky was employed on your son to smile more élevémentvater under it, that with its geldspelen the women and its cannon to be. Oh Jesus saves me!
At least mildly amusing.

English: The minstrel in the gallery looked down upon the smiling faces. He met the gazes, observed the spaces between the old men's cackle.
To Japanese and back: The wandering minstrel of the gallery saw on the surface of smile. As for him old men' The space between it met to the look which is observed; The calling voice of s.
(I like "the calling voice of s")

Through long December nights we talk in words of rain or snow, while you, through chattering teeth, reply and curse us as you go. Why not spare a thought this day for those who have no flame to warm their bones at Christmas time? Say Jack Frost and the Hooded Crow.
English to Japanese and back: As for us, passing by the tooth which echoes, when it goes with word of the rain or the snow, simultaneously, response you speak with the December long night, denounce us. Why, this day thought for the person who does not have the flame which warms their bones at the time of Christmas you do not have to economize? Be the crow of the jack frost and the hood attachment.

That's hysterical, Jim, and so was the one you did for Minstrel in the Gallery. Funny stuff! Jeff

O man that is so choice. I recall Dave Rees did something like that some years back, maybe alot of years. I have to believe Ian would get a real kick out of that were it attached to the group of questions, just, Oi, Ian, dig this.

Don't want to be a fat man, people would think that I was just good fun. Would rather be a thin man, I am so glad to go on being one. Too much to carry around with you, no chance of finding a woman who will love you in the morning and all the night time too.
English to Japanese and back: The exactly good pleasure where the people we would like to be the person of fat quality, think that there was I. On the other hand be a thin person, as for me continuing the fact that they are one years old, it is very delightful. Chance of the thing which excessively finds the woman whom it should carry with you it is not morning and all nights it loves.

On an episode of the late lamented News Radio TV show station owner Jimmy James wrote his memoirs, Capitalist Lion Tamer. The book flopped in America but the translation was a huge hit in Japan. Hoping to get a similar reaction back home, the book was translated back into English to interesting effect.
Which is why I like to use Japanese and back so much.

I think I understand this as well as I do the original:
It slides with the skating which it slides with skating, with the ice whose new day is thin slide with skating.
