This deserves its own topic. I just bought a front row ticket.

Clarification - front row center. What an awesome show I saw tonight. I'll have a full review over the weekend.

Where do I start? Took 1/2 day off from work and drove up early to avoid rush hour on the beltway. It rained on and off all day. Mostly on. I still hit traffic, but arrived in time to get a nice dinner. Bit of an odd area. The Lyric is across the street from the University of Baltimore and there weren't a lot of choices for dinner or drink. That being said, I found The Brewers Art. A funky little bar/restaurant that served really good food and excellent beer that they brew. I stopped in there to take a leak on the way home and it was packed with young nubile co-eds. Roger Daltry and Jewel are both playing The Lyric in the near future. The show, as I said FRONT ROW CENTER. I think taking four(4) plus years off from Tull/Anderson events did me good. I haven't seen the current cast of players and I thoroughly enjoyed the new faces. I REALLY enjoyed Goodier on the six(6) string acoustic bass. A guest female on viola, Florian on 6 string and a young black East Londoner on drums all proved capable. I did miss Martin. But, I'll take O'Hara's organic accordion sound over the Gidding keyboard noises any day. I didn't even miss Doane. Ian's voice was a B. Yeah, there were a couple of songs he struggled with, but I'll take a B. Just Trying to Be WAS played which I enjoyed. Excellent version of Mother Goose and I never get sick of Fat Man. I agree with Jeff about Aqualung. Too meandering and really what was the point. I would have preferred the acoustic Under Wraps and a number of any other potential choices. Ian allowed the viola player and Florian to each play a solo composition. I enjoyed both songs and suspect Ian either just wanted a stage break or wanted to do a favor for both, but really I would rather hear more Tull. Some dick in the cheap seats heckled(twice) Florian during a quiet part of his classically based piece. It was an awesome song and Florian tore it up midway through. Overall grade, a strong B. I might have some more comments later on.

Oh!!! A light bulb went off this morning. (I bought my front row center seat last Friday) I sat next to a guy from Florida who bought his ticket just a day or two ago. He travels ALL OVER to see Tull (and Springsteen). Is it possible I was sitting next to the one and only Traveling Tull?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for one of Ian's special nights.
