Hi All,
It’s been a long time, and I hope everyone is doing well!
Paul and I are planning to visit the USA in mid/late July, and will mostly be based in Verona, New Jersey.
We’re looking into doing some acoustic Tull tribute shows in the NJ/NY/LI area. There is even the possibility of doing some kind of joint show with the wonderful folks from Warchild – NY’s premier Tull tribute band.
We’d love to have an idea ahead of time as to how many of you would be interested in coming to see us, so that we can book the appropriately sized venue or venues. So, if you could whip over your feedback to me (Marcie) here or on a private message asap so that we can get things rolling on our end, we’d be really grateful.
Here are some of the things that are in store:
Edited Acoustic Version of Thick as a Brick
Dun Ringill
Life's a Long Song
Reasons For Waiting - Performed at the Italian Tull Convention in October, 2008

Thanks a million, and we’re looking forward to meeting you all when we’re out there!
Best, Marcie and Paul Forrest

Hi Marcie and Paul! Thanks for posting those videos, they are simply beautiful. (I hope you don't mind I went into the post just to add the videos to the post, rather than just the links). My wife and I really enjoyed listening to them, and we look forward to your shows here in the summer....we will definitely be there!
And I would love to see you join up with War Child for a gig or two. We are very familiar with War Child, having seen them many times, and of course the War Child keyboard player Mike Grin (Icecreamman as he is known here on the board) is my best friend!
Wishing you well there in Israel,
Jeff

Beautiful. I'd have bet you couldn't pull of "Reason for Waiting" with one flute, but it sounds great.

Hiya Mike et al, We're still finalizing this gig but the venue is called Piano's and it's in Bloomfield NJ. Will send the link and more details (time/date) when we have a final confirmation. For this gig, we will do mostly folk oriented and original material, and we hope to have our friend Kath who is a wonderful percussionist join us.

Paulie, I think they Mike said July 30th at Sullivan Hall, but I will check that for you. The P&G show is Marcie and Paul (ex-Dayglo Pirates), I believe. Jeff

Jeff, O.K., so far we have Footsteps playing at P & G Cafe on July 22 and Warchild at Sullivan on July 30 but in post# 47 from icecreamman he mentions two Footsteps shows in N.Y.C.. That's what I was inquiring about. Also, I saw Robin Trower at B.B. King's Thursday in the city and was blown away by his guitar. The last time I saw him was 32 years ago when he opened for Tull at Shea stadium in 1976. l

My math is not the best. Turns out it was 34 years ago. It was also my first JT show also. I was 14. Well, let me know if you find out the date on that second show. Thanks Jeff

Hey Paulie et al, thanks so much for your interest.
Just to clarify, the two shows in NYC Icecreamman referred to are the P&G Cafe on the 22nd of July, and the 30th in the Sullivan Theater opening for Warchild.
For the southern Jersey people out there, we have a show lined up in Pianos in Bloomfield on the 28th. The NJ will feature more from our original repertoire, and if we know there will be a large crowd of Tull-type folks, we'll be sure to throw in a few Tull tunes.
Looking forward to seeing you all in July!
Marcie and Paul

Great night last night! I got a chance to meet and see Marcie and Paul perform last night and I have to say that the two of them make a terrific duo! To those who may be unfamiliar, Paul plays a great acoustic guitar and has a voice similar to a young Ian Anderson, and John Lennon at times as well. His rendition of Life's A Long Song was about as good as I've ever heard. Marcie has a beautiful voice and is a terrific flute player as well. She get's a very "clean" tone out of the flute and then can capture that darker, breathier sounds that Ian has made famous. They played us a mix of acoustic Tull, their own original tracks, and a couple tracks from other artists like Focus and Steve Hackett (?). Marcie and Paul were joined for a few numbers by our Warchild friends: Mike (the Icecreamman) on keyboards and Robb on bass which brought a hint of that 'big band' sound which was cool as well. The highlight of the night for me was their version of Thick As A Brick which included a medley of the lesser played edits and turned out to be a really enjoyable piece. After the show about a dozen of us went for a late supper talking music and Tull while dining on some very strange food!!! If you're in the neighborhood I highly recommend you catch these guys for their 2 remaining gigs, especially with Warchild this Saturday night. You're sure to have a great time!

Thanks so much Paul, for your lovely write up. We had such a terrific time meeting you all.
Yep - that was Steve Hackett's "Jacuzzi" we played, as well as the Focus tune.
Looking forward to seeing you all Saturday at the Warchild gig!

Last week, a number of Jethro Tull Board-ees had the pleasure of meeting Marcie and Paul of Footsteps (previously Sossity) for the first time, and hear them perform two stellar shows in Manhattan, the first night consisting of a mix of their original music and Tull covers with guests from Tull trib band, and then a (nearly) all-Tull double bill featuring Footsteps and War Child at Sullivan Hall the following week, which was a blast!
I say nearly all-Tull because my wife and I requested that Marcie and Paul play one of their own pieces, the beautiful 'Spanish' which is just one of many beautiful acoustic pieces that they do. Icecreamman -- who did a lot of work to organize this Tull extravaganza -- initially went a little beserk at the thought of breaking up the all-Tull setlist, but I ultimately was able to talk some sense into him and it all worked out!
I am looking for some videos from their two appearances, which I believe are already up on Mr. Ben Rossington's youtube channel (that's Mike from War Child), which I will be posting here soon.
But in the meantime here's one of their original songs. I couldn't find 'Spanish' on youtube, but I Walk With The Wind is another one of theirs that I really like:
Marcie, Paul, it was great meeting you both! I hope you enjoyed your trip back to Israel, and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
Jeff

Here are Marcie and Paul with their beautiful, expanded version of Dun Ringill, from the P&G show in NYC on July 22nd. I like how they harmonize on vocals and I love Marcie's flute bridge starting at 2:56.
Reasons for Waiting, beautiful:
Here they are supported by Icecreamman on keyboards for Just Trying to Be.
Marcie's "favorite piece of music in the world" (understandably), with Paul's vocals nearly indistinguishable from the young Ian's, and both Mike and Bob from War Child adding keyboards and bass, respectively.
