Jethro Tull: Braveheart! www.letelegramme.com/tag/Quimper 25/7/12 Espace Gradlon Quimper, France Ian Anderson performing at the 89th Festival de Cornouaille. 21:30 start. In light years of a puffy Dylan of vanity, Ian Anderson, leader of Jethro Tull, provided with impeccable musicians and the use of an excellent sound, offered a furious concert, on Wednesday evening, to Gradlon. Generous, ham actor, inhabited by his music, the old pirate, whose voice rather crossed well the decades, unwound the rooms plays of choice of his rock opera "Thick as a Brick". Before taking French leave, not prude, he added "My Sunday Feeling", "Aqualung" and "Locomotive Breath". Beautiful Harvest!

Is there any truth to the rumor that Ian and Fee Waybill (dressed as Quay Lewd) had words and had to be separated at Burg Herzberg festival? My understanding is that The Tubes were going on for an encore of White Punks on Dope and Fee could not locate the cucumber that goes down his pants to simulate a giant penis. He grabbed the closest thing to the stage which was one of Ian's flutes. When they came off stage, Ian was fit to be tied. He had Ryan retrieve it for him and played his show with a back up flute. Does anybody have confirmation of this?

If I were Ian I would have went total apeshit also.

Burg Herzberg Festival ("Traditional Hippie Convention") Near Alsfeld, Germany July 20, 2012 Jethro Tull`s Ian Anderson started his very motivated gig by `Thick as a Brick – Pt. I & II”. This was also the theme for this evening. Ian was in most excellent mood and communicating a lot with his fans. They liked it very much. It was specially Florian Opahle on lead-guitars specially to be mentioned. This young maestro was playing georgeous solos.
The medieval ‘Upper Sixth Loan Shark’ and ‘Banker Bets, Banker Wins” could be considered as one of the highlights. Specially by ‘A Change of Horses’ Ian was demonstrating what extraordinary lord of the cross-flute he is. The song which all the fans were requesting and waiting for the utmost was concluding a spectacular performance: ‘Locomotive Breath’. Ian Anderson and band were hard-rockin’ and giving the freaks what they desired by a long-version of this cultique song. The man playing often on one leg and his troubadours got overwhelming applause as Good-Bye. markus-hagner-photography.com/?p=9908

I may be way off Remy, but if memory serves, I think someone mentioned that this was done around the time they were playing in Iceland? (maybe it was in England but this surfaced at the same time they were in Iceland ) Either way a commercial release is in the future! Hope that is as confusing as it seems Darin

Also, since Ian's flutes are VERY closely guarded by his personal roadie, the flute is last on stage and first off stage, he would be the second person Ian murdered...ish. If it did happen I would imagine Ian's reaction would've been bigger news than Fee's doing it in the first place....we've seen what happens when you talk to loud. Darin Cody

Darin Cody I think Darin is right, Ian is not separated from their flutes ever, neither when he leaves to the hotel, this picture is backstage at Sant Feliu. Who believes who has in his briefcase?Remy

Legendary leader of Jethro Tull performing ‘Thick As a Brick’ and sequel next month.
In the current political environment of cultural boycotts targeting Israel, Ian Anderson is somewhat of an anomaly. The longtime theatrical front man for British classic rockers Jethro Tull has been arriving on our shores with rhythmic regularity for multiple performances, whether with his veteran group or as part of grandiose solo projects. www.jpost.com/ArtsAndCulture/Music/Article.aspx?id=282215

www.jpost.com/ArtsAndCulture/Music/Article.aspx?id=282215 Great article Paul. You sure can't tell Ian Anderson where not to play and what to do with the money. “I don’t let those people bully me and tell me where to play, I make my own decisions,” said the 65-year-old Anderson recently from his home in England during a two-week band break between tours. “The fact that I might choose not to benefit financially from my performances and donate my earnings is my own decision as well.”

Legendary rock band to perform in IstanbulFrontman of the British folk rock band Jethro Tull, a group famous for their flute infused music, will perform in Istanbul at Küçükçiflik Park on Sept. 10 as a part of the world tour for his latest album Thick as a Brick 2: Whatever Happened to Gerald Bostock. Ian Anderson scheduled the Thick as a Brick 2 tour to be supported by the band he toured with in 2012 under the name Martin Barrre’s New Day, which includes Jethro Tull’s bassist Jonathan Noyce. The group plans to play the new album in its entirety for fans. Album Thick as a Brick Earlier this year Anderson announced via the Jethro Tull website that a follow up album to the bands popular Thick as a Brick album would be released April 2, 2012. Thick as a Brick 2: Whatever Happened to Gerald Bostock? has been billed as a solo project from Anderson rather than a Jethro Tull release. A 18 month world tour has been planned to promote the original Jethro Tull album and frontman’s new solo sequel. The album signifies the golden age of the group, according to band members. Thick as a Brick 2 had its world premiere on April 14 at Perth Concert Hall in Scotland. Istanbul was also rocked by Jethro Tull last year. Thick as a Brick was Jethro Tull’s first deep progressive rock offering, coming four years after the release of their first album. The epic album is notable for its many musical themes, time signature changes and tempo shifts and features of the progressive rock scene that was emerging at the time. www.hurriyetdailynews.com/legendary-rock-band-to-perform-in-istanbul.aspx?pageID=238&nID=28542&NewsCatID=383

I need some help trying to figure something out.
IA isn't going out as JT because an IA audiance is more respectful and serene. They will sit quietly and applaud in the right places. Hmmmm......Florida, North Carolina, Oklahoma? Are you kidding me. No offense if your from there but these yahoos aren't going to sit quietly especially for a show where half the material will be new to them. I assure you, there will hootin and hollerin down south. The US tour will not be pretty.
...a new age is born
