Hi folks! I suppose if I mentioned I participate in the virtual world, Second Life (R), many of you would roll your eyes and think, "This geek needs to get a first life." We get that reaction a lot, just as you might get a similar reaction if you mentioned you are a Tull fan to anyone not familiar with the group, eh? But the concept is nevertheless quite immersive and engaging if you have the mindset for it. For those of you who are unfamiliar with it, it is NOT a game like The Sims (although it can be if that's what you want), but rather a real time 3D virtual world created entirely by its inhabitants, with about as much virtual land area as a small country now, in which admittedly not much happens unless you know how to find interesting events. Anyway, I used to visit a little club there that specialized in progressive rock. There was rarely any more than 3 or 4 other avatars there, trying to look like they were dancing to 13/8 time, often with humorous results. One night was to be an all Tull night, so I decided to go in an Ian Anderson costume. I spent a small fortune having the iconic tattered plaid greatcoat made by someone with better Photoshop skills than I, and then made the rest of the outfit from bits and pieces I found in world. Some parts I made from scratch. I was never happy with the face, as I could never get it to look like Anderson, but here is the result: This was quite some time ago. Second Life looks a lot better now, with a lot more lighting and rendering options, but it was great fun at the time. I thought some of you might get a chuckle out of it. Cheers!

Now that is cool. My avatar is real but if I could do a 3D version of myself, it would be even better. I could bring back the glory days of long haired Rock n' Roll in a virtual Tull concert. Perhaps a virtual "Passion Play" live? Since Ian insists there are no professional films or videos, it may be the only way to recreate the experience.

Definitely cool. Now for the rest of the band!!! Joking. We could set up a second life Tull convention and all meet up virtually. That would be really weird haha.
