The coolness of the mornings and evenings remind us that it's not only Tull weather, but it's "that" time again. Time to set aside a few hours every Sunday, with good food and drink, donning you're favorite jersey, and routing your team on - no matter how bad they may be! I must admit though, all the NFL hoopla these days is not for me. Give me an informative few minutes of pre-game and let the game begin! But last night I did enjoy watching Dave Matthews even if others did not... I do have a beef with tonight’s festivities. Let’s exercise our imaginations for a moment. Close your eyes and imagine you’re at a party for tonight’s game and you decide you want to get your friends warmed up before the game with some pre-game tunes. Now, I don’t care what you listen to – rock, metal, country, rap, R&B. No matter. But let’s say you like everything, even with that, would The Dave Matthews Band even have a chance at crossing your mind? Who gets pumped for a big game by listening to Dave Matthews, and Taylor Swift for that matter? I don’t get it. Is the NFL that out of touch with their audience? Why wasn’t Jethro Tull given a call? He’d fit this weird mold perfectly. I’m sure plenty of football fans dig those artists, but for a football game? www.caller.com/news/2010/sep/09/nfl-picks-week-1/So here we go, on to 2010. Will Dan's extremely talented and talkative Gang Green finally win it after 42 years? I don't know. I think it will come down to the young QB, and whether he can avoid the big mistakes. My team, the G-Men have a solid offense but have a lot to prove defensively. Last year's D was a total embarrassment. Blue's got the a new QB in Philly. Both the Giants and Eagles should have a good battle to see which one can give the Cowboys a run for their money. Okay, so who else wants to chime in on their team? Let the fun begin.

Since my beloved NY Mets have been out of the playoff hunt since about May, my thoughts turn to football. I'm excited about the NY Jets and the new stadium but feel they are overhyped and will be taken down a peg Monday night against the Ravens. A photo taken of the new stadium at night on our last visit , lit up green for Jets , (it will be illuminated Blue for the Giants), and a photo of my son getting an autograph from former Jet, Joe Klecko.

Color me quietly optimistic. My suffering starts in October. The NHL Rent-A-Player Season begins.

Having just seen the travesty of the Lions-Bears game, I can't even concentrate to have a fucking discussion.

I got 8 so far in my pool.
But I have to say I was very pleased to lose on my pick of the Cowboys last night. ;D

You were right, Dan, taken down a peg indeed. The Jets will not win a Super Bowl with Sanchez. He seems so tentative, and immobile. He has trouble scrambling out of danger, and often seems flat-footed. I hate that double pump thing that he does too. Jeff

As much as it galls me to have to say something nice about Michael Vick, he did look pretty good. That dog fighting BS still burns my butt.

It's going to take awhile before the game "slows down" for him. Probably a few years. And I was thinking that his running ability just might be the best thing he's got going for him! But from what I saw last night, they were doing way too much crap before they snapped the ball. I mean, what did it get them, 6 first downs all night? That was a downright embarrassing offensive display that we saw. The coaches seem to lack any trust in his ability to throw the ball down field. Defenses are simply going to load up the box and force them to throw it. Maybe when they get Holmes back they'll be okay. I have to admit that although I "Bleed Blue", I've never disliked the Jets, until now. And it's simply because of the attitude that Rex has brought to this organization. I'm all for having some fun, but this attitude like they have actually won something does rub me the wrong way. Leave the talking to the fans. The Giants have been there, and done that (running the mouths) knowing full well that the only thing that matters is what you do on the field. In 2007 the coaching staff wore t-shirts in practice that simply stated: Sorry Danno, hope you don't take no offense to this post! And speaking of no offense.... Next up, Tom Brady and company.

I'm certainly no football wizard , but when I can call the plays that are coming than it's too ordinary. Run up the middle, run up the middle, 3rd and long..... I love Rex but I'm sure I'd hate him if he was on another team. I wonder if he would consider coaching the Mets?

I have to admit that I pay much more attention to the Jets than ever before, and the is all attributable to Rex. But he needs to win, otherwise his act will be just that. His dad loved to yap, and he never won anything as a HC either. I'm not sure what to make of the play calling last night - I didn't see the entire game. From a fans perspective it seemed like poor coaching. But then again, they know Sanchez a lot better then we do. They seemed to be set on using a lot of smoke & mirrors before even the most basic play. With that strong defense it looks like their philosophy is going to be not to allow Sanchez to lose games for them. But it will be interesting to see how they look next week.

Baltimore is the one you need to watchout for. Maybe Green Bay in the NFC. I'm a working john, I'm a working joe, And I'm good at what I know.

If we use their first game as an indication. the Ravens showed that they are the better team over the Jets, even without their best defensive player in Ed Reed. The Packers looked tough too, but just lost Ryan Grant for the year so someone needs to fill those shoes. He's rushed for 1200 yards the last 2 years.

Well Danno, it looks like we have a bit of a role reversal there. You guys are looking very good coming off a nice win while we are looking abysmal. Big week ahead. Your game should be a good one. Ours is winnable but my concern is things spiraling out of control if we lose. We'll see...

Not at all ;D but Dan-the-Man will welcome you in! It's amazing how quickly things changed for both teams. Except of course the idiot Braylon Edwards who effed up an otherwise positive week for the Jets. Did we discuss the reporter the Jets treated improperly?

Well good luck Danno the rest of the season. Hopefully at least one NY has shot to contend for a championship.
It's obvious the only thing us Giants' fans have to look forward to is a hhigh draft pick.

It's obvious the only thing us Giants' fans have to look forward to is a hhigh draft pick. I missed the entire Giants Game because of my son playing Fall Baseball but I heard there were alot of penalties and it sounds like the locker room may be trouble if Brandon Jacobs and Safety Rolle are undermining the coaches. Jets are playing well and will only get better when Darrelle Revis, Calvin Pace and suspended Santonio Holmes get back on the field. Main concern is how often they let their opponents convert on 3rd Down. They don't seem to be blitzing as frequently as last year. Unfortunately, I see them losing in a 'letdown' game against the lowly Buffalo Bills next week. Dan

Hey don't feel bad, My Panthers aren't worth a hoot either. I hope we can get a high draft pick as well. I think the coaching staff will be gone after this year. I wish we could get Bill Cowher. He always seems to get the most out of his players.
And the graven image you know who.
