For some reason, Jeffrey HH doesn't always get as much attention as other band members do on Tull boards, and I realized I don't know very much about him other than he was Ian's childhood friend and left Tull to become a painter. Does anyone know anything about him or have any stories about him? What is he doing these days? Does he still play music at all? Are he and Ian still friends?

Somehow...and this maybe way off base...i feel like I know and have met people like jeffrey HH....true eccentrics...who cultivated their eccentricities to an almost extreme point, in order to fit in or be accepted by the mainstream...and then come back to their original outsider status. I believe JHH is a true artist....more concerned with producing something true to himself than with fame or fortune...i also think he and Ian remain lifelong friends....likely limited by JHHs comfort level with other people more than Ian's.

I remember seeing him on the 25th anniversary reunion DVD. He almost looked exactly the same! At least with the beard and moustache. haha. Jeffrey HH is amazing. His bass playing is both fluid and solid. For some reason, I've always found the tongue in cheek weirdness of Sealion 2 to be especially entertaining. And of course, The Hare who lost his Spectacles is one of my favorites. I remember reading Ian say in an interview after Jeffrey left that he was an example that showed that "anyone, literally anyone can play the bass". A bit harsh I thought. Anyone may be able to play the bass, but I don't think anyone can play what Jeffrey played on bass. Apparently he wasn't incredibly inventive in his bass playing, most of the bass parts were taught to him. I don't know if that's the case, but he sure as hell played them great

JHH is probably my favourite member of Jethro Tull.

I so wish I could go....it's this weekend, right? I was looking at the Itullians website, and it is just...........incredible! Jeff P.S. I will definitely check out Andrea Verseci....I am aware that he is a member of the Tull tribute band, Beggar's Farm. We should really invite him to join us here!

Michele, it sounds to me like the Itullians put together the best Tull conventions. It must have been amazing to have both Ian and JHH there together. Jeff

I think, when JHH's wife of many years pased away, Ian attended the funeral and put a sincerely sympathetic note on the website.

Michele, it sounds to me like the Itullians put together the best Tull conventions. Jeff Yes they do. I went to 2 English and 4 Spanish conventions and I organised the first 2 German conventions, but I have to say: The Itullians are the best. Ok, it´s always a bit of a chaos. For example the year when Barrie Barlow, Clive Bunker and John Evan were there. The sound check was finished in time (what did not happen at any other convention before), everybody was ready and waiting for the doors to open. Nothing happened. We were sitting in the dressing room, having some good wine and food, talking about what could cause the delay. After 30 minutes Clive asked Aldo (the organiser), why they did not let the audience in. The answer was: "Everything´s fine, no problems. But hey, we are in Italy. We can´t start the concert IN TIME!" And after the show they always take us to a fine restaurant, where we have to eat loads of stuff and everything is so delicious. And if a musicians wants to stay a bit longer for a short holiday: no problem. They show you around and give you more good food and wine. And the wheather is always fine, don´t ask me how they organise that So the musos always have a good time and they tell this to others and that´s the reason why Aldo can have everybody on stage.

Hi Ulla, Right on the money! I can vouch for this based on Paul's and my experience performing at the 2008 Itullians convention. We were treated like royalty from the word go.. wined and dined (although Paul is vegan and doesn't drink, they had a lovely veggie meal prepared for him at the celebratory dinner Friday night). We really couldn't believe it. Apropos Jeffrey: I also had the pleasure of chatting to him at the convention and posing with him for a couple of pics. My brother and I idolized him when we were kids so it was the highlight of the convention for me meeting him (apart from the performances). He is very warm and friendly, and has a sparkle in his eyes. He was at the convention with his son Edward. Ian called him on to the stage before the start of Thick as a Brick to say a few words (he doesn't play anymore). All he was able to say was "Thank you for remembering me". I'm sure I'm not the only one in the room who choked up. It was just heartwarming.

Back to the JHH topic raised by Jeff.
I'd be keen to hear if anyone has any info on Jeffrey the painter. The only piece of work I have ever seen is the 'Blackpool' image that appeared on the inside of the classic artists DVD cover.
I love art and would love to know if he has an agent or has held exhibitions of work. Any info, greatfully received!

Jeffrey is also my favorite Tullie. The guy must have earned a fortune from his somewhat brief tenure in Tull. Plus, he really wasn't a musician/bass player. Who wouldn't have loved his life?
