Hi,
I hope this is the right place to post this - if not feel free to move it somewhere appropriate.
My name is Dirk and I am playing Tull for quite some time, loving to play along the paths of Ian Anderson in terms of vocals and guitar (check out my soundcloud for raves, rants and insults :-) ).
I recently stumbled across the remnants of a former Tull tribute band and we thought together we give it another shot. Now we are staffing a new band in western Germany (I am in Cologne). We are looking for a guitarist and bass player who loves (or at least likes) Tull to join our outfit, consisting of keys, flute and voc/git (me). A demo CD is in the making and we already have offers for gigs - seems like event organizers don't want to hire yet another ACDC cover band ;-).
So if you want to join, please tell me - or if you happen to know someone, please pass the message.
Thank you very much!

Hi, Dirk, thanks again for joining us here, and yes, you have posted your message in the right place, that is, our unparalleled Tull Tribute Band Department. If I'm not mistaken, there are one or two Tull-Tribute-Bands-in-formation that I have posted about in this department -- I'll have to check through the threads -- and I seem to remember (though I'm not sure about this) that one of those were from Germany. Of course, we are already aware of at least one German Tull tribute band, Thick as a Brick, and I think another bunch of guys was trying to form in Germany, but I'll have to get back to you. One thing that I've always postulated, is that there had to be at least several other tribute bands from Germany, given Tull's enormous popularity there, but I was never able to find any other than Thick as a Brick, and perhaps this other new German (?) tribute band that I mentioned above, which was trying to form (although I may have that wrong....I may be thinking about a new band from another country.) I will do a little research on this and get back to you, and I'm also going to have to have a look and listen at your soundcloud site! Jeff

Hi Jeff,
you are spot on.
It's 'Thick As A Brick' that I am talking about. They split for various reasons this year. I afterwards got contacted by their former leader and flute player (Christoph Marx) who knew of my humble efforts to sing and play Anderson. He tought of re-forming the band by opening up the local context of his home town to western Germany, so it was a 'challenge accepted' for me.
Btw: I also expected to see more German Tull Tributes, but - according to Christoph - Thick As A Brick dominated the German market ;-) so to speak. That's exactly why it was a shame that TAAB also vanished.
Well, he is about to change that and - lucky me - I am in it.
We do have candidates for bass and guitar as I write this, still I wonder if there is someone waiting in the wings already knowing (and loving) the material by heart to join us.
So if you find traces of the other band and a contact that would be cool, thanks in advance.
Also I would take the liberty to post updates to the progress of the band if this is ok for the forum.
-- Dirk
