I don't know why, but something is telling me that we will be all more cheerful, when the next set of samples comes out...who knows?

When you've accumulated a body of work of over the decades as rich as mr. IA , any thing new is just gravy... The glass' half-full! Love Passion Play, but i'm suprised noones metioned this spoken word piece,
"Oh fluffy duck! Oh fluffy duck. We walked thru the maternity ward and saw two hundred babes wearing nylon!"

Hey, welcome to the Board Willie!
I'm not sure I recognize the spoken word piece you're referring to...

It's one of my favorite parts on thick as a brick. It's J Hammond (i think) speaking over a a kick ass instrumental bit.... Alot of sax and organ, with a driving beat.

I actually had that part of Thick as a Brick in mind when you had mentioned it, but all I could come up with was Cats are on the upgrade

As for the spoken word stuff... yes it will get old on a repeat listen... but its not like this is the first time spoken word has cropped up in the middle of a concept album... and I don't hear too many on this Board bashing Passion Play.... Hi Willie... I vaguely alluded to the spoken word a couple pages back... Hair and Spectacle section correct?

No, the Hare's great of course, but i'm talking about a different part ... on Thick as a Brick... I think its the start of side 2, but someone stole my copy years ago, so i can't double check. Hammond's speaking nonsense over the music. Its much more subtle than Hare and better in my opinion

Also of course there's the spoken word bit that starts off Dun Ringill.

We are geared to the average, rather than the exceptional.

I'm just thankful that more of Jethro Tull's (or Ian's) brilliant music going to be available! The world, today, has become so bombarded with "New Wave" music that I cannot seem to enjoy. I am so glad that Jethro Tull has not given up on these new times... I am really looking forward to their new music because without it I would be stuck living in the past!!

I agree, today's so called New Wave music is a lot of Crap. Thank God for more new music from Ian/Tull. My true Savior! Oh Father high in Heaven.

I was thinking that in Swing It Far was all Ian, but now I'm sure that has to be somebody else singing.
What say you?

The stuff still sounds very much like leftovers from Ian's solo albums. Adrift and Dumfounded sounds a lot like Valley from Roots to Branches. Old School Song is very TAAB-ish. I still don;t know what to make of it.
10/20/12 Okay, okay, I am loving this now. I still miss Martin on guitar.

It could well be another singer that Ian brought in, someone who sounds like a younger version of himself, or because of the close resemblance, it could be Ian singing in an affected way to make it sound like a younger version of himself. He's done stuff like that before, with alternating vocal lines, like on The Whistler for example, and there are others. Jeff

Surprised to hear that other vocalist on Swing It Far. I have to say that I like the instrumentation in these samples much more than the instrumentation on Ian's more recent solo albums. Very creative stuff. Florian (is that his name) follows the tradition of Martin Barre. I would loved for them to have Barre on this album (as well as Doane!) but from what I hear he does a good job.

Lots of hope for a great Tull sounding album. I don't really think it sounds anything like ian's solo albums.

I did not like the first three samples, but "Banker Bets.." and "Swing it Far" sounds – well, more nicely, at least. I still cannot imagine why there has to be a TAAB2-Album, besides speculations about better buying rates. And am I correct that Barré is not in the boat? I guess one should be able to let the dead rest in peace.
