I have a CD of Aqualung and one of the bonus tracks was an interview with Ian Anderson where he was talking about sharing a two studio complex with Led Zep.

On one of the interviews with Ian and Martin, has them tell the story of Jimmy page coming into the control room while Martin was laying down the solo to Aqualung, he said he was torn between waiving to him or continuing on. It was the take that made it on to the album. Ian then goes on to say that if you have the newest, best re-mix, you can actually hear the spot where Martin waives during the solo. har har. Darin Cody

Darin Cody Hm, I thought I remember Ian saying that happened during the intro to Locomotive Breath, and that he was horribly self-concious--because friggin Jimmy Page was watching him. Who knows, that was a while ago so I might be wrong, or perhaps whoever told it (whether it was Ian or Martin, most likely Ian) just didn't remember the specifics. By the way Darin, did your post count go down or something?

This was from the A New Day release of Ian and Martins recollections of 25 years or Jethro Tull. I just popped it in, Aqualung! ding ding ding ding. That was the amazing thing about the story, that he was so nervous and under pressure, he's worrying about what Jimmy Page thinks and wether he should wave hello......yet he pulls off one of the all time greatest guitar solos. Locomotive Breath intro doesn't carry the same weight, it's just a little jam. Lets see what's the proper emoticom for this....... Yes there was a mix up downtown, they lost a bunch of my posts and I didn't keep my receipts so I was demoted.......I'm appealing the case though. You back up all your posts don't you?

Well that's why I thought it was the solo at the beginning of locomotive breath, he was a nervous wreck and didn't really perform to his full potential. I'm probably wrong though. I keep a hard and soft copy of my posts, yes. That is why I have the secure feeling that what happened to your posts will surely never happen to mine. I wish I'd have noticed earlier, I would have made you a new thread in the Welcome section.
