OK, so EMI have called you up and asked you to compile a Tull tribute cover album, no expense spared. 12 tracks maximum with any artist or group or combination of artists, living or dead, [if that's what rocks your particular boat] to perform the songs but no Tull members past or present. What are your 12 tracks and who would you get to perform them? Just to get the ball rolling my opening gambit might possibly be: 1. Cat's Squirrel - Black Country Communion 2. The Witches Promise - Kate Bush, Ian Clarke on flute and the original KT Bush band with Del Palmer on bass 3. For a thousand mothers - Emerson, Lake & Palmer 4. Inside - Aimee Mann 5. Strip Cartoon - Madness 6. Mother Goose - Cat Stevens 7. The Third Hoorah! - The Kaiser Chiefs 8. Minstrel in the gallery - Jeff Beck with John Entwistle, Robert Plant and Joss Stone with Ian Paice 9. Quizz Kid - The Stranglers 10. Pibroch - Ritchie Blackmore with Clannad 11. Life's a long song - Peter Gabriel 12. Dark Ages - Roger Waters and Dave Gilmour's Pink Floyd Just off the top of my head and I reserve the right to change them

well I can not believe EMI would ever say no expense spared... OK, there's the flaw.....:-) Nice selection, I like the pairing of Kate Bush and Aimee mann, and the inclusion of Van M will mean Mrs Q would buy it and Roxy could make an interesting contribution

I would like to see something like this, adding my reasons for choosing each:
1) TOTRNR - Rolling Stones (age and style seem right)
2) Cross-Eyed Mary - Midnight Oil (Garrett can do the snarl)
3) The Whistler - Richard Thompson (right up his alley)
4) Aqualung - REM (Oddfellows Local 151 has similar theme)
5) Swing it Far - Elton John (wouldn't choose anyone else)
6) Truck Stop Runner - Garth Brooks (need a country guy)
7) Teacher - Horslips (Second Avenue is already their version)
8) Witch's Promise - Steeleye Span (they do good witch)
9) Back to the Family - P.J. Harvey (she'll sing it angrier)
10) Apogee - Rush (who better for this?)
11) Said She Was a Dancer - Elvis Costello (unrequited love songs are his thing)
12) Black Sunday - Radiohead (I can kind of see this)
