Well it was actually three hours.
Back in high school I was invited to produce (and DJ) a Jethro Tull special on our local H.S. station.
Using many of my Tull posters and photos I created a Tull "showcase" in one of the hallway display cases. I also made a 6 ft. x 3 ft. banner (made from a professional window display kit borrowed from my dad's appliance store) that flew proudly atop one of the walls in our school cafeteria for weeks prior to the event.
So the stage was set. All I had to do now was come up with 180 minutes of Tull music and stories. A tough job indeed, but somebody had to dot it. The key to the play list was getting the PSA's (public service announcements) in on time. So I arranged Tull tracks by time to fill each segment. The play list included songs from Stand-Up through Heavy Horses. I passed a copy to the engineer and off we went. With the occasional radio 'groupie' stopping in for proper flirtation during the program, I had a total blast.
Too bad though, I didn't take any pictures or record the thing. Well maybe I'm better off not having recorded it (if you know what I mean). But actually it went down rather well. Kudos came in the next day from the department head; who until my special put a stop to such a things due to the immaturity factor on the parts of my fellow classmates. So next up: Pink Floyd, but the heart wasn't in it for good old Waters, Mason and Gilmore I'm afraid. I remember making and displaying the new PF banner, but that's it. The rest is just a blur.
So there you have it. If I hadn't taken on this Working John, Working Joe role, this web board might have actually been founded by a DJ.
