Remember the days when a big part of the Tull mystique was having absolutely no clue what they would come up with next? It was always a surprise, and most often a very welcome one.
That mystique was shattered for me when Ian sent out surveys before recording Crest, as if he had run out of ideas or lost his gift of artistic instinct, and it feels somehow wrong for him now to TELL us what he's going to do next (a folk-prog-metal hybrid album).

Very true. There are no surprises anymore Matt. Except of course the nasty rumor that Ian asked Justin Bieber to work on his new album. Thankfully that was unfounded.

Ok, I specifically came to this thread to discuss the Bieber-Ian Anderson project. You guys are cruel! Cruel to Moths and fairies and things of that sort.

I had nothing to do with the rumor. I had already relayed the message to my kids when I found out it wasn't true. ;D

Well it does sound like there may be some surprises on the next one. I doubt it was Ian that used the term Folk/Prog/Metal, though. Even so, we haven't had very heavy Tull since Hunt By Numbers.

TM, what'd they think? Were they excited? My oldest didn't buy it. My youngest was thinking how she might be able to use her father to meet him.

Me too but either way, it sounds intriguing.
