I just received my copy of Around The World Live, which I had put off getting because like many of you, I already have 90% of this. I finally gave in thinking that what was here was somehow "improved" upon, cleaned up like pros would want to do it.
WRONG. I'm a little pissed. The Isle of Wight "My God" flute solo was edited. The film quality was seemingly the same, as with the sound. Tampa on the other hand was like a 3rd or 4th generation video copy. Just bad. I have the original offering and its very nice comparatively.
The Ohne Filter "Stormwatch" was "OK" except for the bass rattle about halfway through. (I once edited out the interview and corrected the song order on a much worse copy) How hard would it have been to do this?
From the 1st DVD to the begining of the 2nd CD we have gone from 1970 to the mid nineties not only shorting the 70s but skipping footage of the Walk into Light stuff, the Crest of a Knave footage I've seen and the great 93 shows.
All of whats there of the 80s and later are fine......the quality is fine.
Just seems a total shame that major chunks of their most profitable and creative period are missing. If this included Paris 75 and Golders Green 77 I might feel a little less........just out some money.
Ian, Please at some point just pay the boys what they deserve and get these things released. for me? PLease.
I would surely have loved to post some glowing and loving words here about a "new" DVD release. I'll wait.......
