It only occurred to me today that Broadsword was the first JT album that I experienced. My father must have bought it when it was released as it was on a lot, so I would have been 4-years-old and I can remember singing and dancing along to Beastie on many occasions. These days my son also happily sings and dances to Beastie and Pussy Willow when I have CD on regularly – he’s 7.
I like every single track on the album, it doesn’t have any faults; maybe due to being the foundation for my love of JT & IA’s music?.... For that I can’t give much reasoning behind my top 3 songs from the album, - excluding the bonus tracks.
1. SLOW MARCHING BAND – Just love the slow tempo and the flow of the melody. I like to crank up the volume and sing along loudly (and badly) to it – at home or in the car.
2. FLYING COLOURS – Beautiful intro which soon gets going when whole band join in and then it just keeps rocking on ‘til the end. Great moments from Dave, Martin and Peter and Ian’s vocals are on form, naturally.
3. CHEERIO – why not!? It’s a perfect finish to a perfect album (similar to Further On from ‘A’, which I also enjoy) and these days reminds me of all the fantastic times I have seen Tull live and just leaves you crying out for MORE!

The first two you listed are probably my favorites too. I love the album as a whole but I do get a little bored on a couple of tracks..now add the songs that were left off the first time, and I'd have to pick Mayhem and Jack a Lynn. I actually knew those bonus tracks before I knew the rest of Broadsword. I bought the 20 year two disc set first. I am so backwards on how I was introduced to all my Tull.
I have a 6 and a half year old and she couldn't care less about Tull, haha. One day she asked what I was going to listen to and I said, "I don't know...maybe Tull" and she said, "I thought so" in a accusing type of manner.

Actually, the two best songs from those sessions didn't even appear on the album: "Jack Frost and the Hooded Crow" and "Jack A Lynn". If I had to pick one from the actual album, I suppose it would be "Slow Marching Band". Never cared for "Electronica Tull". Not one jot or tittle.

Martin's work on Seal Driver really moves me. It's that " making the guitar talk" thing.

This thread made me want to go listen to Jack A Lynn and Mayhem Maybe...I was on the tablet and chose to listen on Youtube. Ahhh! This video! Much love. My username is so relevant in this.

Martin's work on Seal Driver really moves me. It's that " making the guitar talk" thing. Sent from my HTC Inspire 4G using proboards I was always intrigued by that little section just after the guitar solo and before the last verse begins. First time I heard that song I remember wondering how IA would get back to the verse in the original key and all. It is quite briliant actually, and typical of IA's way of doing things at times. He slams a couple chords, pauses, synth pulse returns in the oriiginal key (a flated one no less), keyboard hit, and verse begins. Quirky, but a sneaky fit. I still find that disturbing.

Him wanting someone to bring him the broadsword, and a wheel of oaken wood. "Ah get up and get it yourself ye bastard!" Was that it? I wouldn't have thougt of that for a thousand dollars. So, what else do you remember? Nevermind, dangerous question.

I'm the same way, that album always reminds me of the Fairy - and especially the phrase "Long in the tooth." That really should have been a double album too. At least three songs from those sessions make my top five. I remember having a sigh of relief too when I heard it because I thought Tull had lost their was after 'A'. Even though I liked that one too ok. Well I could probably have brought the old codger some "Brewing heavy weather" this week though. Four tornados in the valley here. Just small F1 and F2 spin ups thankfully. Em doesn't like Tull?!! Probably the old "familiarity breeds contempt" sort of thing.

Yes my long teeth and Abby the horse's as well. So many conversations come back to horses, heavy or otherwise...and of course the weather. Stormwatch or Heavy Horses. That familiarity breeds contempt reminds me of Doane saying the same about American music. But no unfortunately she just likes her kiddo music. Disney songs and stuff.

Well I did see a pic of yall at a casino show though didn't I. Stormwatch: 80 degrees today and sunny. Smoked a chicken, added Alabama white sauce, three sides, became happy. Winter returns this coming week though. That's all for this forecast. Goodnite Mothy dear.

It's hard to pick even only 3 songs from one of my least favourite JT albums, but I'll try anyway...
1. Clasp 2. Watching Me Watching You 3. Seal Driver

Ummm...did you roll it in Sage-flavored Zig-Zags or Tangy Barbecue EZ Widers? I guess you could make a bong out of a chicken. LOL. There is cannabis BBQ sauce so one could have the best of two worlds I suppose. But no, a simple dish in fact - pulled chicken BBQ, a variation of the "Drunk Chicken," a favorite here in the south. The bird is slighty prepared with a bit of salt, red pepper, garlic powder, black pepper, and set upright over a can of beer, or whatever can beverage you like, which is placed in a stand with bird over it. I have a barrel smoker, so an apple wood fire is prepared on one side whilst the poor, hapless bird is smoked over a pan of water in the other at about 275 to 325 degrees for a couple of hours, or until the internal temp recaches 190 degrees. Take out bird, remove skin, pull meat off bone and place it all together in a bowl - dark and white meat together. Place a helping on a plate, Ladle some white BBQ sauce over the pulled chicken and wah-la! The white sauce is native to the north Alabama region and all the local BBQ joints carry their own house versions. Basically, mayo, pepper, vinegar, sugar, with whatever herbs and spices one likes - the varities are endless. For sides, I went with BBQ baked beans ( beans in red bbq sauce, chopped onions, bell peppers, brown sugar hot sauce), onion garlic mashed potatoes, cole slaw, and smoked cream corn refried with butter and heavy cream. Laripin! Well, I reckon I had four sides didn't I. A slice of Texas toast on the side, with a tall glass of sweet ice tea (can substitute with a good locally brewed beer) and a slice of lemon. Best chased with homemade vanilla ice cream and peaches. Just pretend this is over at the Paradise Steakhouse.

I'm sort of like that, I wanted a favorite band that was a little different than anything else and it took me awhile to find what that was. I'd like another horse someday but they are a lot of upkeep. I remember TM recently asked if I ride and like the old lady horse I took care of, nope, I'm content walking them around (see avatar). Ignoring the hideous chicken talk...blah blah... Stormwatch: Oh sunshine take me now away from here. (I believe we had our own thread for this segment)

Okay, I'll try to get out of the way and mosie over to the Stormwatch thread next time, or M&M or whatever we came up with. I hate you are still suffering the weather. Must be hard on fairy kind. We had spring-like temps again today but that's about to change. Oh, I remember. I meant to ask you what it is about chicken that you hate. What's up with that all of the sudden?

And I was trying to wash her and she'd run around me in circles...I guess she didn't like it. Oh did I tell you, Em just lost her riodent named Rudolph, she was sad. We're all really experiencing cabin fever around here. I can't take too much more. I don't know, I guess the fetus doesn't like chicken.

A horse is an animal of flight, so it will run. If you have a lead on it then you can either throw up one hand and pull on the lead which will usually stop it, or just let the thing run itself out, then you can handle it. I usually used the latter. Cabin fever, try painting. Or I could send yall a plane ticket. I would like to have one of those holodecks like on Star Trek. Especially in winter, then I could program the Carribean and stay on the beach three months out of the year. Ah, the little fairy doesn't like it. I temporarily forgot.

Apart from Jack a Lyn, the bonus tracks don't do anything for me ,stuck on the end of the album. Liked them more when on 20 anniversary set. Suppose it's an album I've grown up with from earliest child memories so only the album tracks will do
