Horses are high at first, takes some getting use to. A horse is an animal of flight, so it will run. If you have a lead on it then you can either throw up one hand and pull on the lead which will usually stop it, or just let the thing run itself out, then you can handle it. I usually used the latter. Cabin fever, try painting. Or I could send yall a plane ticket. I would like to have one of those holodecks like on Star Trek. Especially in winter, then I could program the Carribean and stay on the beach three months out of the year. Ah, the little fairy doesn't like it. I temporarily forgot. I'm afraid of being up high on a horse but I'm going to jump on a plane? Too scary. I have nothing good to say tonight. Oh, Darin, so I was going to ask earlier, is that the convention date? I had to wait until midnight to find out...so I guess...hmm, not sure what I'm doing yet. What are you doing? New Yorking it up? Combining post is a habit now huh. Guess I was a bad influence. So, you've never flown either? I was raised in the air. Well, I used to fly anyway. Took a few flying lessons, got bored and quit. Then my brother starts flying and becomes a commercial pilot and cropduster, so I flew his planes but not legally so to speak. That is to say, I never soloed. A pilot was always with me when I flew. I don't mind hights, I'm afraid of widths .. . Nothing good to say? I bet you got something bad to say though - hehee. I don't either. I just wanted the last word.

Yes, I've covered a little territory in my life, mostly due to circumstance and survival, but mostly because I've just been around a long time. However, I've never been pregnant. Mother of four - now that's an adventure. You have the richer life Mothy.

Hard to pick just three favorites from Broadsword, but I do quite like Seal Driver and The Clasp. Not sure what my third choice would be. Speaking of The Broadsword & The Beast, I've long imagined the present lineup of Fairport Convention covering a piece or two from this album -- the rhythm section (Dave Pegg & Gerry Conway) would be the same, and if you replace Ian's flute and Martin's guitar with violin and mandolin, you might have an interesting sound. Layer in Simon Nicol's rhythm guitar and I suspect you would have a musically viable cover version. It'll probably never happen, but it's fun to daydream.

That's actually a good idea for Fairport, and I know Pegg loves Broadsword. I can definitely see them doing The Clasp. Jeff P.S. I took a look at your website...very cool that you once sat in as guest bassist for Fairport on Portmerion (a violin piece I really love, btw)!

Thanks Jeff -- the night I sat in for that one tune with Fairport Convention remains one of the highlights of my life. Back when I listened to the Broadsword album over and over in high school, I never imagined that I'd one day get to step in to Dave Pegg's shoes for a few minutes and jam while Gerry Conway played drums.

That's awesome. They are such laid back guys. I miss when they used to play just about every year at The Bottom Line back in the late eighties and early to mid nineties. I saw them at least six or seven times there, and knew where they would go for drinks close by to the venue after the shows. I say shows because back then they played two separate ninety minute shows a night, at 7:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Nowadays they rarely play NYC, only once every five years or so, at Joe's Pub. I still get their albums, but I'm not really too much of a Chris Leslie fan, and I think he sings on most of their new stuff. Jeff
