PROGROCK.COM PRESENTS....
Ian Plays Ian!
On Tuesday, April 15th, Ian Beabout will be commandeering the daily New at Noon hour on www.progrock.com to bring you brand new music from Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson. New at Noon runs every day from 12-1:00 PM (CDT) on progrock.com and is designed to feature only the most recent progressive rock and related releases and is picked at random by the station's auto feed. However, on April 15th, Prog Rock Deep Cuts host Ian Beabout will be handpicking new music from Ian Anderson's upcoming solo album HOMO ERRATICUS and presenting it live on air, complete with anecdotes and lesser known facts about Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull's career. The upcoming release, Anderson's first in two years, is a concept album following the sagas of a man struck by delirium who dreams of his past lives. Beginning with his origins as a nomadic Neolithic settler, we trace his development as an Iron Age blacksmith, a Christian monk, and even glimpse forward into his future. All of this is backed by Anderson's distinctive flute playing and his talented and road-tested group of musicians who are about to embark on a HOMO ERRATICUS and THE BEST OF JETHRO TULL tour of Europe, the United States, and all over the world. It is not to be missed! Fans are encouraged to tune in live and join the chat room for this very special event. Beabout, a life-time Tull devotee with a unique passion for Anderson's music, will also be taking requests during this one-time-only event at progrockdeepcuts@gmail.com. My pleasure Ian. Just to clarify, will the April15th show focus entirely on Homo Erraticus, or will there be other artists featured as well?

Hi TM,
It'll be about 30 minutes of Homo material and I'm allowing about 15 minutes for requests. All Tull, Ian Anderson, Martin Barre, etc is fair game, provided that I own it. (And I have a more or less complete Tull collection).

Ah, so it's going to be an hour of Tull music. I think it's a great idea as it gives people a chance to hear some of the new songs in their entirety as opposed to the samples that are all about. I'm not a big fan of those samples - I want the real thing! Best of luck with your show, and I look forward to hearing it on the 15th!

I'm with you, TM, samples are lame! All they do is spur endless debate as to what the full thing "could" be and they rob the experience of taking the compositions in as a whole.

It's good to get a glimps though for the curious, and to create anticipation or loathing. Thing is I've heard the Doggerland sample about a thousand times now. Once the real thing comes along I may be drawn into thinking it's the director's cut or remaster.

Ah, nice article Ian. I'd be very interested to know how many fellow students will actually tune in.

Good question. My estimate? None. But, then I can be a bit of a pessimist! I know I have at least one friend who likes Tull (we met after realizing that we'd both gone to the same Steven Wilson gig!), because he asked me once, "I see you like prog rock and play the flute. Have you ever listened to Jethro Tull?" :-)
