For those interested, here are the answers I've received from the guys at Bunrning Shed:
4 discs DELUXE edition The audio content on both DVDs is indeed the same. The original plan was to have only the documentaries on the second disc but in the end, because the space allowed for it, the music content was put there as well for convenience.
2LP Edition You're right, the initial plan was to have 3 sides of music and a non-playable, screen-printed fourth side. As far as I know that Idea was dropped in order to ensure better sound quality of the vinyls.
------
In fact, some of you could have already noticed that DVD1 has ended to be of no particular use at all (but description on the web site still omits to list the presence of the audio-only part on DVD2). And we've got a four-side-music 2LP instead of the first version advertsited above at the time I have ordered it (now they have changed the decription on the web site). I agree on this choice, being the new IAN's concept divided into 3 parts: part one lasts for 30 minutes and this would have lead to put part 2 and part 3 together on the same C side of the vinyl (22 minutes) in order to have a free 4th side. Nevertheless, how awesome it would be to have a 4th pictured side!
Anyway, great music and the first great real deluxe edtion among of all the TULL discography (except for the 20th and 25th box sets). Well done!
