The new Flamborough Head release Lost In Time is their best for a long time. The long title track is epic and contains lots of flute.

One of my favourite releases of 2013 is Italian band Tugs :Europa Minor
It has some wonderful tracks and all members of the band contribute some superb parts. The vocals are in Italian but seem to add to the overall symphonic feel. The band speak of Tull as an influence and the album contains lots of Tull like moments. Highly recommended Here is La Gloria check out the flute at 1.51

Frequency Drift ...great German band ..check out the flute at the 7.24 min mark The flute rock thread lives! Longest thread we've got here, I think. Great track, from the excerpts I just sampled, love the flute passage there. How are you, Elwyn? I've been away from the board for quite some time, but looking forward to having some time soon to revisit the thread with Rob and Alun's videos, to catch up with their current work. Cheers, Jeff

It's possible that somewhere in this, our longest-ever thread, Preston posted something about the Tull-influenced prog metal band, The Shadow Theory.
Flute starts just past the half-minute mark:
Killer version of Sweet Dream, and very creepy:

Hi Elwyn,
It's been awhile, over a year I think. I understand why you haven't been active lately. A lot of us haven't, probably due to feeling deflated over a number of things.
Still, I miss your Flute Prog Rock thread....one of the greatest we have here, and the videos of Rob and Alun, even though I haven't always been able to comment as much as I would have liked, I enjoyed listening to their songs. I've noticed that their videos don't seem to exist on youtube anymore, or perhaps they have a new channel?
Anyway, just wanted to say hello to 'Preston Platform'....you're still an administrator, by the way, and one of the Board's best all time contributors.
Drop a line,
Jeff
