Last week, did a lot of driving out on L.I., listening to Ray's terrific double CD set twice through, and then some radio. One of the so-called "rock" stations played a Lady Gaga song called Paparazzi. Not a bad song, and she's pretty freakin' hot!
That led me to wondering, how many songs by other artists are there that have the same name as Tull songs, or "Tullonyms", if you will?
I know Blue Oyster Cult does a song called Astronomy, but that song is just about the planets and stars, whereas the Tull song is about those celestial bodies as well as another type of heavenly body. (See 'Miss Galilleo' by Quizz Kid in his Tull-related drawings thread!)
There must be other Tullonyms as well. Does anyone know of any?

Crossfire -- Joe Perry Project (Once A Rocker, Always A Rocker - 1983), Stevie Ray Vaughan (In Step - 1989) Home -- Joe Walsh (Barnstorm - 1972), Roger Waters (Radio KAOS - 1987) Inside -- Van Halen (5150 - 1986) Nothing To Say -- The Kinks (Arthur - 1969) Pavane -- Joe Walsh (So What - 1974) Up To Me -- Joe Walsh (Got Any Gum - 1987)
Honorable Mention A Song For Jenny - Humble Pie (Rock On - 1971)

Good finds, Wendy and Dave. I knew there were other Tullonyms out there! And Walsh with three of them? Just another example of an Eagle "copying" Tull, I suppose.

And Walsh with three of them? Just another example of an Eagle "copying" Tull, I suppose. Technically Joe is innocent on both counts for one song, as his 'Home' predates Tull's by 7 years, and he did not become an Eagle until 1976 anyways. Can't check any of em right now...I only have that album on vinyl, as well as So What, and no access to turntable. My damn Got Any Gum CD seems to have made an escape, as it is not where it belongs on the shelf. I totally would have played these combos of same name songs on my old college radio show, and I'm sure I did similar ones at least a few times. I loved funky set ideas like this...

Hi, Wendy, My post was intended to be tongue in cheek, but it didn't come out right, so I see how you could have taken it as serious. What I meant is that I never bought Ian's claim that the Eagles "stole" the chord progression from We Used to Know and used it for Hotel California. Don Henley had some choice words for Ian over that, and to me the two songs sound completely different. I like Walsh a lot. Have seen him two or three times at the Beacon Theater here in New York, with a friend of mine who is a huge fan of all of Walsh's stuff including James Gang, Eagles and solo. P.S. Did you see Tullite's reference yesterday to Dr. Who in the Kids TV shows from the 60's and 70's? So that's the Dr. Who of your recent convention! I can't believe I had never heard of that show before! Jeff (again)

Up To Me -- Joe Walsh (Got Any Gum - 1987) Dylan also had a song called "Up To Me" on his Biograph (an outtake from BLOOD ON THE TRACKS, 1975 IIRC).
