Has Ian ever been asked if he ever attended a concerts as a youth? If so, what? I would think he had opportunities to see the Beatles during the early to mid 60's.

In about 1976, the day after a Tull show in Boston, I saw a band called 'Orchestra Luna' in a club near Harvard, the the end, the singer thanked ian for coming and , sure enough, there he was, popping out the back door with a quick wave to the impressed audience. In 1982, in Oakland, ian was trying to make sure there were tickets for all ( band, crew) to see The Who, the next night, in the same venue...but in the middle of the next day they announced a surprise, extra gig in nearby Stockton...a much smaller venue than they had been playing that tour...so I guess they didn't see The Who-----I dumped my Who tix in a second to get the extra Tull nite...and even steered Peggy back to his hotel after a drinkdown in a redneck bar that featured some kinda set up where the bartender could surprise women in the bathroom ( via a two-way speaker)....classy!

Extra night of Tull v. The Who. That's a no-brainer....I never really understood the appeal of The Who. Don't like their lyrics, don't like Roger Daltrey's singing, don't like Townsend, don't like most of their songs, but have to admit that Keith Moon was a great drummer. Funny about you guiding Peggy back to his hotel after drinking himself silly at a sleazy bar in Oakland. It was probably a rather threatening city back then. Jeff

I sat behind Ian at a Steeleye Span gig at Hammersmith Odean once.
