After the last time I saw Tull which was in 2002. It was after a show at the House Of Blues in New Orleans. He was really kind and even signed my Minstrals In The Gallery book. I also gave him my condolences about his Mom passing away, which he told me happened many years ago but he still appreciated it.
I also told him that I thought it was really cool how he wrote Clive a letter as a fan many, many years ago asking him how to play My Sunday Feeling and Clive replied telling Doane to take the letter to the show Tull would be doing at the Fillmore East or perhaps it was Carnegie Hall. Clive showed him how to play it and Doane met the band. Then Doane goes on to join Tull! I told him that playing in Tull is his destiny.
He is a really cool guy and a great drummer. I don't know why he is not playing in Tull at the moment.

I don't know why he is not playing in Tull at the moment. Not only is Doane one of the nicest and friendliest Tull members, so is his wife Heather. During the Catfish tour we were talking to her after a show at the Paramount Theater, and she promised to hook us up with backstage passes for an upcoming show at the Nassau Coliseum about a week later, and then kept her word, leading to our very mirthful first encounter with Ian! Doane is a great drummer, but sometimes I wish he would lay off the cymbals. One hot night in Budapest.

If you don't speak German, here's a quick translation of the opening piece on the webpage courtesy of Mrs Q: "On 2nd July 2010, Jethro Tull guested in the Vienna Arena. Doane Parry, drummer since 1984 with the legendary band from England, takes a look back at this time, 27 years ago, in a detailed interview.
He speaks, amongst other things, about his engagement with Jethro Tull, his band project, Thread and remembers that historic moment, when as a youngster, he met the first drummer with Jethro Tull, namely Clive Bunker, at a concert in the USA.
Here and there the conversation was accommpanied musically by the British jazz-rock band Colosseum who were carrying out their sound check at the same time and finally the concert evening began."
A translation of the Didi Zill 'photo' page is on its way.
