That was truly great....he answered everything, and so quickly! Great work, Paul. Hopefully, we'll have more of these soon. [ Rest assured, folks, we're working on it! ]

[ Rest assured, folks, we're working on it! ] Jeff I found his response to your "most difficult passage" question rather interesting. I didn't expect the Beethoven answer at all. I was thinking a long the lines of Minstrel or Dark Ages. But I've always found it quite impressive that the band would tackle a classical piece like that.

Paul, Thanks for putting this together. Thanks Barrie, that was awesome. Nice to see Barrie citing Ringo as an influence. As a matter of fact, next time I have the opportunity, I want to ask any member of the band if they ever saw a Beatles show in or around Blackpool back in the mid-60's.

I bet it´s a Kick ass Tull DVD? probably the best so far. It's a bit of history, but I'd buy it more for the CD then the DVD since most of the videos are out there on DVD already or Youtube. I think the only song that I hadn't seen was maybe No Lullaby.

John was a happy, generous and loving man. A talented and dedicated musician, with feel, empathy and enthusiasm for music. Most people he knew loved him. Not everyone took the time to appreciate him. . [/b] As John Evans, Jeffrey, Ian and myself were all teenagers together, a family was formed. John, Jeffrey and I are like brothers and we each have an eye on what our talented brother is up to. Martin is like a step-brother who remains in the divorced home. Love abounds underneath it all. Sometimes happy, sometimes sad, sometimes angry..families eh.....? [/b] [/quote] Thanks for posting this interview, I've always loved Barrie and I think the bond between him and John Glascock really made the difference in Tull's music. His words for John are moving. And I really enjoyed the broken nose/crab story! Great guy.

We hope to be doing more such Q&A's here in the near future, and in fact, we hope to be able to announce a new one very soon, so stayed tuned! Jeff

Dear Barriemore Barlow!
To me you will always be the greatest! I have never heard a drummer like you! It is an absolute privilege to hear you play! Everything you play is fantastic! It was a sad day when you left Jethro Tull. I hope you are well. You are certainly loved by many!

This is a question... or it will be... eventually...
I have often heard people say that the 1984 Jethro Tull album Under Wraps should have had a live drummer... Personally I really like what Ian did with the drum machine... but it would also be a treat to hear Under Wraps with a great drummer... like... yourself? A new release with the old version of Under Wraps... and a version with the wonderful, magnificent, Barrimore Barlow... You see... there is nothing we wouldn't do to hear you again... Of course, this would be playing along with music that's already made... But then again... I am sure that you would give it a good kick... and every die hard Jethro Tull fan would certainly want a copy. I have heard of extended versions of old Jethro Tull songs, so why not this? So what about a 2014 release? That would be a 30 year celebration of Under Wraps featuring Barrimore Barlow?

BostockBostock, unfortunately this Q&A has been closed for quite a while now (2009 it seems), but perhaps there will be another one with Barrie in the future? Too bad. I still think that Under Wraps with a live drummer would be a blast. And 2014 would be a good year to release it. One original CD, and another CD with a real drummer. Barrimore Barlow, or someone else? It would be a nice thing to have in my collection.

Please, if at all possible, open a new Q&A thread with Barrie sometime in the near future. There is great interest here, obviously. Thanks in advance What would we ask him? I'd ask him about his musical activities since that thread was closed, what he's listening to today, and some technical drummer questions that I have not seen addressed by anyone else in any other interview or Q&A Ive read.

Barrie, I have a good friend... Drummer.. Larry Levine from Saratoga NY. He is fairly accomplished as well. I would love to know if you remember a band who did some opening shows for you guy's way back in 1973....? "FAT MAX" they were a cover band doing early King Crimson, Yes, Genesis, Gentle Giant...and yes.. Jethro Tull material... before this music was called PROGRESSIVE... whatever that is anyway.... I was hoping to find some piece of memorabilia that had the name Fat Max and Jethro Tull on it from that tour. I'd love to buy it and give it to Larry... He has taken me under his wing so to speak.... as 40 years later he has found it interesting that I am trying to form a band doing this same music...including so many more as well..... Thanks Hope this rings a bell. Randy

Dear Barrie, how are you? I hope you enjoyed Cropredy this year. Here´s my question: How was it to have Amy Winehouse at your studio? Any trouble? The place covered in Charlie after the recording session? Or was she just a lovely girl? Best wishes Ulla from Worms (Germany)
