Thanks for the awesome pics on that link! I always get a tingle seeing Shona strutting around in her ringmaster outfit. I think Ian felt the same way. ;D Like a sealion with a ball at the carnival.

Found this Tull sticker on ebay. I've never seen the image before, one of the rarerpictures of Ian? It looks like it is a press photoshoot for the 1978 Madison Square Garden concert (hence the satellite). There are more pictures from this set, right?

These are some pictures that our friend Paco Jimenez has given me, bought on Ebay a few years ago. Paco ask Dee: Have you ever seen these pictures? Dee responds:No, I haven't and I'd really like to download them. The gig was The Merv Griffin TV Show in Philadelphia, USA. The year was 1977. The song we performed was Wondering Aloud. D.Palmer & I.Anderson For the moment I have not the original size, When I have, These will be replaced He has given me this for facebook... Thanks to Paco Jimenez for these pictures

Remy, thanks for sharing them, I've always thought these were great images.

Gracias Paco and Remy! That's why I like being here so much. Every day is like Tull Utopia. Never saw that episode on Merv Griffin before. Is there a video lurking out there too? That would be Mervelous. ;D

Great find Remy, these are real gems, never seen them before.
Jim (jtull70) was talking about a TV special he saw in the mid70s where Ian was sitting down the whole time, I don't suppose this is it?

Great find Remy, these are real gems, never seen them before. Jim (jtull07) was talking about a TV special he saw in the mid70s where Ian was sitting down the whole time, I don't suppose this is it?This could have happened during the same time period while Tull was touring in '76. I am certain the show I saw was the Midnight Special though. Ian was on a stool with a cigarette and looked very awkward talking to an empty room. The videos they played were live "Quizz Kid" and perhaps "Minstrel in the Gallery". OMG! This is the Mike Douglas Show. Could Ian have been on this instead of Merv?If I had known about the Merv Griffin show appearance, I would have FREAKED out.

Hello Jack, thanks for posting. I made a typo, I found these on tumblr not "tuklr" I did a search for Jethro Tull, and someone had made a post with this and one other image with no source, but I will upload the other picture. Perhaps someone will recognize them?

We ran this awhile back I think. The site to check out is Garage Hangover, run by Nick Warburton, and deals with 1960s garage rock bands, the pictures are shown there. www.garagehangover.com/?q=taxonomy/term/2159I contacted Nick and asked permission to run the images here and unfortunately he advised that he would rather people were directed to his site. Well worth checking out though.

Not know if this photo was published here before This photo shows seven people and Penny Peeps were five, maybe six in the beginning but never seven... I think it's a photo of the school band or maybe The Noblemen Also in this link of Nick Warburton is well explained and have more photos of Martin's youth www.nickwarburton.com/wordpress/?cat=11Notice the difference between photos of 1967/68 and 1966 belonging to The Noblemen I will not publish the pictures as it may be copyrighted. The Noblemen are Mike Ketley, Martin Barre, Jimmy Marsh, Chris Rodger, Malcolm Tomlinson and Bryan Stevens (1966)

After several days searching for confirmation of Ian Anderson's appearance on the Mike Douglas Show, here is something to confirm it: The Mike Douglas Show Season 14 Episode 208 - June 30, 1976
Chad Everett co-hosts; guests are entertainer Bob Hope, singer Anthony Newley, musician Ian Anderson and Joy Belle Squibb. www.tv.com/shows/the-mike-douglas-show/june-30-1976-903038/cast/Also: These photos were taken in August of 1976, as Ian was rehearsing for an appearance on the Mike Douglas Show in Philadelphia , PA. The images mostly show him on stage, seated on a stool with his guitar (sometimes with a cigarette in his hand or mouth!). www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/ian-anderson-jethro-tull-b-w-photos-rare-1976 With a slight discrepancy on the month, it seems to suggest there was no appearance on the Merv Griffin Show in 1976.

Nice work Jim!
Pinned that one down definitively Sherlock! 'Elementary, My Dear Watson', with the help of Google and my old Hard Drive. ;D My earlier theory about the Midnight Special may be in doubt. This seems to be the show I had seen in '76.

Pinned that one down definitively Sherlock! 'Elementary, My Dear Watson', with the help of Google and my old Hard Drive. ;D My earlier theory about the Midnight Special may be in doubt. This seems to be the show I had seen in '76. The show you saw with him sitting on the stool introducing "Quizz Kidd" (The BBC special) definitely came on a weekend late night show Jim. (Ala Midnight Special, Don Kirshner's Rock Concert) I'm thinking maybe the "Minstrel" video must've been the 75 Paris video. I saw the Mike Douglas show, it was a daytime airing. Around the same date though most likely. On the same show there was an older woman that played honky tonk piano (something like Slow Train Comin) and Ian suggested that they do Locomotive Breath together. At the end she played the show "out" and all, host and guests, were ringed around the piano, clapping with Ian mugging eyes for the camera. I seemed to remember this being the Merv Griffin show though ( but Mike Douglas and Merv were the same person!) Nice job finding that stuff. Darin
