Back in 1995 I was working at a shipping company with a guy named Cleve.
He had never heard of Jethro Tull until I played "Thick as a Brick" at work.
He was amazed that his name was on the cover and wanted to see them in New York City on November 14th.

Cleve and me on the Empire State Building, N.Y.C.

The Beacon Theater

Before the show we made all necessary preparations for the walk down Broadway on a cold rainy night.

St. Cleve with his "Thick As A Brick" shirt.

We arrived in perfect time for the main event.

The seats were on the 3rd row, what a view! Cleve was like a kid at his first concert.
"Hey, is that Ian Anderson?"....." Damn Straight!" I replied.

"Words get written, Words get twisted..."

"Old meanings move in the drift of time."

Every song got better and better as Cleve eventually heard his favorite "Thick as a Brick".

"In the long red, red valley people dying here too long."

My favorite was "Valley" and "Dangerous Veils".

Of course there is no song more intense than "My God".

Martin Lancelot Barre

Cleve was learning what real Heavy Metal was all about.

Sorry Metallica, Martin Barre wrote the book.

Bye, bye, see you again soon.

Cleve never wanted it to end. It was a long ride home the next day.
I'm sure Cleve still has the "Thick as a Brick" shirt I gave him.

I bought the shirt I wanted that night. It still looks good!
