Greetings all you obsessive Tull Collectors, I hope to attract some other postings other than the usual stuff from mags and album covers. If you have a place in your house where Tull is the official decor, then it may also be a Tull Cave. I have tried for years to achieve this with many rooms until my wife put the hammer down and said "No". When I covered my entertainment center edges with velcro, it became a revolving arrangement of Tull posters and special memorabilia. When she was out of town, I turned the whole living room into a "Tull Cave", while listening to cds or watching videos. Since I can't have my way all the time, this is dedicated to my fantasy "Tull Cave". First is my official Tull Shrine which will eventually cause Jethro Tull to return to a venue in North Carolina. The Thomas Wolfe Auditorium in Asheville is my personal choice. Remember how much fun we had in 2002?

Next are my oldest centerfolds from Circus Magazine back in the day. I have to be very careful with the Ian with the Pan's People dance troupe one. It doesn't appeal to my wife. Please forgive my thumb tack holes which were necessary ways to hang posters, when I was young and they packed me off to school.

My next pics are from the old record store display from 1975 of Tull with their new album "Minstrel In The Gallery". It survived many walls until the edges began to deteriorate. I trimmed off the worst areas and had it mounted on foamboard. At some point during 1996, I made copies of the original which barely fit on a copier at Office Depot. This was one which I had signed by the Master of Keyboards: "Sir John Evan". It's okay John, I have royalty somewhere in my family history. You are officially "Knighted" by me. P.S. Don't tell Her Majesty yet.

Jim, this is a great idea for a thread, and it's a thread that I have been planning to start, under the same name, for some time. You beat me to it! The reason I was planning the same thread idea, is because I lived in a very dark studio apartment, that faced the rear of my building on the Upper West Side, for 10+ years back in the late 80s and 90s. My friends started calling it "the cave" because it was so dark, and later on referred to it as The Tull Cave because of the Tull "shrine" that it housed. Anyway, I have some photos and stories about my 'Tull Cave' that I will be posting very soon in this thread. Thanks for setting it up for me, because now I will definitely get around to doing it! Jeff

Of course everyone is familiar with the old poster from the M.U. album back in the mid 70's. I just loved the fact that Glenn Cornick is the first and only member to sign it so far. Bottom right corner. If Clive, Barriemore, and Jeffrey are in the neighborhood, please stop by. Ian and Martin will have to wait till next year. Thou art Knighted..... "Sir Glenn Cornick." "Sir Glenn Cornick" his smile says it all.

Ian on sax or is this alto sax? I never played sax except when my late stepfather tried to teach me once. It was too hard for me, so I realized my calling was running lights for bar bands. Most bands love explosions. Tull used to as well, but I think Ian gave it up after the War Child Tour.

I really got lucky with this next piece. A record store in Greensboro had the official divider which also advertised the cd compilation from the 20th Anniversary Box Set. It was necessary for me to buy it too after already having the box set. I knew the record company was squeezing me again, but it was less painful with the store saving this for me. Velcro on the back made it perfect for my revolving Tull Cave. This other item was the promo poster given to me by someone who knew I was into Tull. I felt like it was Christmas in July!

This next pair came from the '94 Convention at Hofstra University. They appear to be of Ian Anderson doing his usual athletic moves on stage. Don't try this at home. If the artist who did these beautiful prints will contact the Tull Board, I will give total credit to "Her Ladyship" whom I can't remember her name. She belongs in the Tull Cave too.

Living With The Past. I got this first one at a record store in Winston-Salem, Hanes Mall. They were very sympathetic to my quest. I felt overjoyed to have it after days of waiting for the cds to sell out. This other piece came directly from Tom Lynch who sells merchandise at Tull gigs. He can be a very busy guy, but I understand his commitment to the band. If you notice carefully, these are different posters. The second one is promoting the DVD. This came out a month after the cd. You know how it ends with buying both copies. For being the Tull Merchandise Manager, I knight you "Sir Tom Lynch", for being the guy who takes what money I have left after buying tickets and 2 drinks at the show. Thou art an honest man!

Ye old record store in beautiful High Point, N.C. Weschester Mall which is no longer. I pleaded and begged for this too. I have no shame. At the time this was the first official live Tull release. I went to a show in November '77 with my 17 year old girlfriend who married me the next spring. It was Tull at first sight!"Bursting Out" released in September '78. She also went to see '82 Broadsword and '97 at Baltimore Pier Six. I can't understand how a woman can deny me my Tull Cave. p.s. She was 18 when we got married.

This is a poster from another record store in Greensboro. They were very good at having things most record stores would not carry. This was the only show I saw John Glascock on November 23,1977. Because John Glascock is no longer with us, I give him a special Knighthood. "Sir John Glascock- Forever Young".

Well it had to be a poster from the '79 Stormwatch Tour that was given to me by my good friend Tim several moons ago. Tim is too humble to be knighted at this time. Anyway, I felt this belonged in sequence with the previous pic. Under...Wraps! It is Tim's favorite album no matter what the critics say.

This next piece came from a record show I went to years ago. I believe it has been reproduced by someone that works at flea markets. Well done "Sir Flea".

The Crest of a Knave poster is mandatory for any Tull Cave. I realize the controversy from the Grammy awards has tainted this slightly. For the music judges at the Grammy awards and all who voted, I knight you "Sir Grammy" and "Lady Grammy". Remember to always bow to the Grammy judges and voters that gave this honor to Tull.

Rock Island is also mandatory. It was a show I will never forget with such an excellent stage to see. The best part was "Thick As A Brick" when they projected images of Metallica on the big screen behind them. When Ian sang "to be Thick as a Brick", the heads of Metallica transformed into bricks. During the show these guys were walking around with spotlights on their heads. They had masks on and white uniforms. They focused on each member doing their solos and disappeared randomly. When the band left the stage after the final encore, these guys walked out and removed their masks. It was Tull. For Martin Allcock, I knight you "Sir Martin Allcock of Fairport". For Dave Pegg, "Sir Honest Dave Pegg".

12" record store flats. What can I say except you need at least 1 of each side to bring in the Tull Cave. If you have them mounted with both sides, they become special. I think this was designed to entice people who used to buy 12" records into believing they would need these to go with their cassette tapes or cds. For this special invention of the record companies, I knight you "Sir 12" Flats".

This is another milestone for Tull, the 1993 tour poster for the 25th Anniversary Extravaganza. I loved seeing this one in Raleigh which allowed me to meet Martin Barre, Dave Pegg, and Andy Giddings prior to the show. We had a blast and I met Randy and Kathy Drosche there too, which led me to my first Tull convention the next summer.

Lord help me for I have sinned. My wife is very unhappy with this effort to build a virtual Tull Cave on the internet. I've got very little time to complete this project without being thrown into a virtual dog house. These are 2 more 12" flats which are only facing the front. I can't seem to find the other side because they were mounted on foamboard. The next piece is the awesome "Divinities" poster saved by a girl at Peppermint Records in High Point 1995. I will pray to all the "Divinities" for guidance. My marriage hangs in the balance.

My last post for this topic is now. I have followed the teachings of all faiths to save my shaky marriage of 33 years. If you notice this next piece which is not indoors has beautiful fingers holding this frame in place on a stump. This was the "Songs From The Wood" fold-out from a tour book in 1977. She volunteered to hold this still while I caught the perfect afternoon light. I can't go without her being Knighted " Her Ladyship Phelecia". She laughs at my Tullness every day and gives me unlimited joy. Now I can rest in my new Tull Cave. Till the next album comes out!

My wife has gone to walk our Beagle. This is an old photo of my little Tull Space. The reason it is special are the 2 masks (Tragedy and Comedy) hanging above. I just had to wear something at the '94 Convention at Hofstra. With my good friend Tim, we were the Passion Play guys from 1973. Thank you "Sir Tim" for making this possible. Remember, don't tell my wife that I'm back online.
