Minstrels in the Gallery is a brand new Tull tribute band from "the eastern Great Lakes region" (I think Buffalo or Rochester), according to the Facebook page they've just launched. They are currently in rehearsals for their 2012 debut. Three of these five guys were previously in an excellent Yes tribute band called Going for the One. They've got a great website, which you can view here: www.goingfortheone.net/If their Tull tribute is as great as their Yes act, then we are in for a real treat. (Erin, do you know these guys? They have played at the Tralf.) More information is promised soon, so we'll keep an eye open and, in the meantime, touch base with these lads. Jeff

Jeff, We were going to originally do a double bill with GFTO at the Tralf and make it a prog night. That fell through due to scheduleing conflicts. But the Yes tribute band they do is amazing. I have had the chance to see them live at canalfest in Tonawanda. Didn't know they were doing this. They are amazing musicians.

I have had the chance to see them live at canalfest in Tonawanda. Didn't know they were doing this. They are amazing musicians. When I saw they were from Western New York, I figured you must know them. Their Yes stuff is great, the guy really does sound like Jon Anderson, so it will be interesting to see what their Tull project is like. It seems to me that Western New York and Toronto is really Tull territory. There are a number of excellent Tull tribute bands from your way. Of course there's you guys, then Oracle and now an offshoot of Oracle called Cross Eyed Mary (not to be confused with the other Cross-Eyed Mary tribute band from Colorado who Ray may know of), and I'm pretty sure the Grown Men are from the Toronto area. Tonowanda....used to live there, right off Chestnut Ridge Road. We used to go to a place up there, I think it was called Raintree Island, where the wings were virtually free. You bought a pitcher for about three or four bucks, and you got unlimited five cent wings. Rooties was another place we went too, similar deal back in the eighties, and I wouldn't be surprised if the prices haven't increased much since then. I laugh, because here in New York, Buffalo wings will cost you over a buck a piece. Jeff

Nice to see Minstrels in the Gallery launching their new Tull tribute in Western New York. These were recorded live in rehearsals a few weeks ago, with no edits or overdubs. And both sound really great....these guys are not messing around!

All they need are some HIGH tech lights and a HIGH tech light technician. ;D

Hi gang--John Covach from Minstrels in the Gallery here. Thanks for including us on the forum! The band is based in Rochester and Cleveland (2 from Rochester, 3 from Cleveland). We all play in a variety of groups; I'm in Minstrels, but also in the Yes band mentioned above, as well as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Asia tributes. (Many bands keeps you busier than just one, especially in the current climate for live music.) Minstrels has two shows shows coming up, with many more in the works. We're playing with my Led Zep band on Feb 24 in Cleveland, and then on March 18 with the Yes band in Rochester. As mentioned above, the Facebook page is www.facebook.com/MinstrelsInTheGallery; we'll have a web page up very soon. Here's hoping we'll see some of you at a show sometime soon!

Welcome to The Jethro Tull Board, John! We wish you the best of luck with Minstrel in the Gallery's initial shows. As I was mentioning earlier in this thread, Western New York and Toronto are true Tull territory. Lots of hardcore Tull fans up there and several Tull tribute acts and/or cover bands, particularly from Toronto. Please keep us posted with all developments regarding your new band! BTW, I think Erin from Living With the Past, based in Buffalo, says that he knows you guys from your Yes band, Going for the One....you may know him too...they don't do too many shows because there front man moved from Buffalo to Colorado, but they played a show at The Tralf a few months ago. Anyway, enjoy exploring the board....there's a lot of fun stuff here....and we'll be talking again later. Jeff

Yes, I do know Ray and have met some of the other guys in Living with the Past. They're extremely nice folks who do a great job with this music.

A quick update: the Feb 24 debut show in Cleveland was a great success. A few pictures are posted on our facebook page.
The next show is March 18 in Rochester, with a new show scheduled for April 28 in Buffalo. More shows are coming and I'll post the info here as soon as it's confirmed.

A couple of videos from the Buffalo show. This is camera audio, so there's lots of room noise.
