The stuff still sounds very much like leftovers from Ian's solo albums. Adrift and Dumfounded sounds a lot like Valley from Roots to Branches. Old School Song is very TAAB-ish. I still don;t know what to make of it. I agree. Listening this morning I'm thinking it sounds a bit like out-takes from solo albums with echoes of some Tull. Well, we'll see. Must admit the more I read and hear, the less I'm looking foward to the show. Ho-hum. icyL

These new samples are interesting, I'm still waiting for the whole thing, though. I must also say that hearing these made me appreciate the previous samples a little bit more. 'Swing It Far' starts rocking out quite hard near the fade-out, I like it.

Well, that sounds a little more promising at least. Still not blown away by any stretch, but it seems like like there are some decent moments. Electric guitar is a little thin, the drumming is a bit pedestrian and Ian's voice is about as good as to be expected nowadays, but I'll try to focus on the positive as best as I can. ;D

Thanks for posting that, Dan. Overall it's sounding a lot better to me. I love Power and Spirit and Old School Song. Swing it Far, Confessional, Kismet are all very nice, and we already know about Change in Horses and Adrift and Dumbfounded. I was a little worried by the first four clips, which I didn't care for very much, but these are sounding a whole lot better. There's some freshness and verve, and some heavier passages that I like. I think this is going to be a very good album. Jeff

I liked it on the Plant Rock sample and Amazon also. Dan

After listening to all those clips... for 2012... I'm not sure what much more we could have asked for.
I think this will be a great album. You've just gotta keep perspective.

Once we know the dates, I'll let Scollo work his magic with tickets for us. That's going to be a good time! Jeff

Having heard the big picture (well, at least 30-second snippets of the big picture) I must admit that I'm beginning to look much more forward to this release. Not that I wasn't happy about it before, but was still sceptical since, as Ian Anderson himself once put it, fans often criticise Jethro Tull because they expect a lot of their favourite artists. Might just as well buy the mp3 version if it's not too expensive, I can't listen to music on YouTube (while excellent for sampling, I find the sound quality of the uploads close to worthless =/ ), and it's a long time until the vinyl issue comes out. ;D

I dont think its another vocalist on swing it far ...I think its just a studio vocal processor at work Well...let's make a bet! I'm absolutely sure we have another vocalist on Swing It Far, no matter what studio wizardry can do. Still, if this is Ian, I will eat my entire Tull collection in both forms, cd's and vynil. This would be a sweet fan's death. So I'm placing my bet for a new singer. Oldghost bets, Oldghost wins

The only possibility of that vocal part being really Ian's would be that he recorded it singing an octave lower, and then raised the pitch digitally. But still, my money is on a new singer, though not too dissimilar in timbre. While Ian really has a low C in his vocal range (which would be the lowest note if that vocal line was pitched an octave lower), and even a low B (!) (heard at the end of Big Dipper), I'm not sure he would have bothered (but who knows? ;D ).

He has mentioned in interviews that there will be an additional performer or something of that nature on the tour....could it be a second vocalist, maybe to sing the parts of the original TAAB that we know he can't possibly sing anymore? Maybe the same guy is on the new record?

If Ian wants a second singer to share some of the duties... that's fine with me.
Ian is simply recognizing his vocal limitations. And if the music is better served by having a different voice in small sections... go for it. I'd rather him have the music presented the way he feels it should be presented.

Having heard the Amazon sample of swing it far I have changed my mind and am now moving towards another vocalist.
A few years ago John O'hara sang his own tune at a Tull concert in Blackburn ..could this be his voice ?

Old School Song takes the pie out of the 8 samples I've heard.

Hasn't Ian said he will have an actor on stage with him who will speak and sing? I'm guessing this is the case.
