Witch's Promise
Leaves falling red, yellow, brown, all are the same, and the love you have found lay outside in the rain Washed clean by the water but nursing its pain. The witch's promise was coming, and you're looking elsewhere for your own selfish gain.

As I sit here, waiting for the postman to arrive, Hey Mr Postman look and see If there's a CD in your bag for me! Cheers, Jioffe. I suspect our local post office has been nobbled by an unscrupulous bunch of internet neer'do wells, [no names, no pack drill - I have my suspicions ] TaaB2 and several other expected pieces due today delayed as no post due to a local 'technical' problem at the sorting office.. and I pay for this service......G - - R!

John Barleycorn. They've let him lie for a long long time, till the rains from heaven did fall. Cheers, Jioffe. Wowww what a gust of good rainy songs. Thanks to everyone. jioffe, I can't avoid posting this terrific Traffic's live version of John Barleycorn. My TAAB2 CD + DVD order won't arrive mournfully till the 12th of this month due to changes on the selling dates according to Amazon, really upsetting

one of those sort of guilty pleasure songs, I think its very well sung. Dramatics I Wanna Go Outside In The Rain Is it stretching it a bit to include Somewhere Over The Rainbow? Pretty sure not, though its one of those songs its probably hard to do a bad version of, this version by Sarah Vaughan is my favorite. Actually my favorite is her version on an album of hers from the period called "Sassy Swings The Tivoli, but this will suffice since that ain't up there.
Probably covered by every folkie ever born but my tribe is Grateful, so VERY early Grateful Dead, Early Morning Rain Probably one of the top 10 to 20 of jazz standards that nearly everyone has played, Here's That Rainy Day, here played by Bill Evans OMG, Sarah Vaughan's Tivoli version IS on You Tube, didn't used to be. Dig this.

Sorry to hear that, mate. If it's any consolation, mine has now arrived! Those large breasted, warrior women with their little online shop, have certainly earned their sexual favours tonight! Resisted the temptation to listen yet, as I had a few chores I wanted out of the way first. Did dip into a few bits of video on the DVD, though. Very interesting, as a different German once said. Just a thought: In due deference to the original JT (and no, I don't mean John Terry!), shouldn't the phrase 'no name, no pack drill' be replaced here with 'no name, no seed drill'? Cheers, Jioffe.

First up in this odd little trilogy:
The Move, 'Flowers in the rain'
Then,
Ann Peebles - 'I can't stand the rain' [When R&B meant R&B]
Finally,
The Eurthymics 'Here comes the rain again'
Do the opening sequences in this video remind you of anything else?

America-Simon and Garfunkel Toss me a cigarette, I think there's one in my raincoat We smoked the last one an hour ago So I looked at the scenery, she read her magazine And the moon rose over an open field (By the way, listen to the Yes version of this song if you have the time. A really old tune from Rob ..from 2008/9 His latest tunes are rather more convincing Under your Spell
Lyrics-
Well it couldn't have gone on for much longer... With every moment that you're straying, the feeling only becomes stronger. And jealousy is a powerful tool. It will succeed in making one boy look like such a fool.
This house is so much darker than it was before... I mean there's ashes on the ceiling, It feels like smoke is rising from the floor. And won't you put that smile away, Yeah the one that's clinging to your pretty face.
It's not a time for smiling, Can't you see what you've done?
Although you may not realise it, We'd all be fools to deny it. You've got us all. Firmly under your spell.
As you approached me in the hallway as I entered, Immediately, I was reminded of our previous adventures... But I shall lock such thoughts away. Keep them in a box, save them for a rainy day.
And so I'm sitting in the corner, you parade about the place. Maintain a dignified expression on my slowly creasing face. And won't you put that smile away? Yeah the one you give me every single day.
It's not a time for smiling, Can't you see what you've done?
Although you may not realise it, We'd all be fools to deny it. You've got us all. Firmly under your spell...

OK, I'm going out on a limb here a bit. Perhaps it is the difference between 'explicit' and 'implicit', but here goes. I'm gonna say ... Jethro Tull "Stormwatch", the entire album! It has the most "rain soaked feeling" feel of any Tull album. Perhaps "Flying Dutchman" has the most explicit rain lyric --" ..floating slowly out to sea in a misty misery". (Mist was included in the description) Additionally but beside the point of the thread, it is also a GREAT RECORD.

A Pillow Of Winds A cloud of eider down Draws around me softening the sound Sleepy time when I lie With my love by my side And she's breathing low And the candle dies. When night comes down you lock the door The boot falls to the floor As darkness falls the waves roll by The seasons change The wind is warm. Now wakes the owl, now sleeps the swan Behold a dream, the dream is gone Green fields A cold rain is falling Near the golden dawn. And deep beneath the ground The early morning sounds and I go down Sleepy time in my life With my love by my side And she's breathing low And I rise like a bird In the haze and the first rays touch the sky And the night winds die

Ozzy Osbourne Black Rain
The black rain is falling Contaminating the ground The human race is dying The dead are scattered around
Blind Melon No Rain
All I can say is that my life is pretty plain I like watching the puddles gather rain And all I can do is just pour some tea for two And speak my point of view but it's not sane
Concrete Blonde Rain
Rain, thought I heard a footstep Thought I heard the phone Standing on the doorstep Listening alone And all I hear is rain
Flash and the Pan Walking In The Rain
Walking down the street Kicking cans Looking at the billboard Also ran Summing up the people Checking out the race Doing what I'm doing Feeling out of place
Walking, walking in the rain Walking down the street Kicking cans Looking at the billboard Also ran Summing up the people Checking out the race Doing what I'm doing Feeling out of place
Walking, walking in the rain

Well my friends, thanks for the great amount of songs sent so far by its quantity and quality. From Today to next Tuesday I will be out for a short Easter holidays, be reasonable and take in my state.
Good Bye.

In the late hours of a sunset rendezvous --- chill breeze against tide, that carries me from you. Got a job in a southern city --- got some lead-free in my tank. Now I must whisper goodbye --- I'm bound for the mainland. Island in the city, Cut by a cold sea. People moving on an ocean. Groundswell of humanity. Now the sum breaks through rain as I climb Glen Shiel on the trail of those old cattlemen who drove their bargain south again. And in the eyes of those five sisters of Kintail there's a wink of seduction from the mainland. Island in the city. Cut by a cold sea. People moving on an ocean. Groundswell of humanity. Storm-lashed on the high-rise --- their words are spray to the wind. Blown like silent laughter. Falling on ears of tin.
