WARCHILD will be performing the best of Tull at P & G Bar in NYC, at Columbus Ave and W. 78th St. on Wed. Nov. 25th at 9:30pm---yes, that's right, that's Thanksgiving Eve, so get in a few beers before you stuff yourselves with turkey and cranberry sauce the next day. The bar is located right across from the Museum of Natural History and the location of where the giant balloons are inflated for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, so come hear the music of Tull after watching Bart Simpson blown up!

Freshly uploaded to Youtube, here is Black Satin Dancer performed by War Child, with our very own icecreamman tickling the keys, and Florian79 thumping the tubs. Check out the string section too! I think you'll agree these boys and girls do a fine job of recreating this very-difficult-to-play Tull classic! But when will we see the rest of them over here?
Jeff
P.S. I experienced some problems posting this video....it's up there one minute, but then there's just a white screen the next. If that happens, please come back to it, as it usually re-appears. And it's really an excellent tribute band performance!

Here are War Child, the New York area's premier Tull tribute band, playing Locomotive Breath, with our own Icecreamman handling the piano intro with perfection:
And here they are with a kick-ass Aqualung, featuring frontman Paul Caruso, and the War Child string section(!):

Hey Warchild! Hope all's well. Really enjoyed watching your vids. Hunting Girl is especially tough to play and that was great....Andrew G always said that was the hardest Tull song to perform, and I think I agree. Very tricky timing stuff on that one.
Take care and keep up the great Tull work. Hope to stop by NYC sometime in the future to see you folks play.
Best wishes, Ray

I have just received some exciting news from the great NYC-area Tull tribute band War Child, featuring our own Icecreamman on keyboards and piano. (This guy does a perfect, and I do mean perfect, performance of By Kind Permission Of, which is not to be missed, and he once offered Ian a moosehead finger puppet as a backstage gift, suggesting to Ian that he might use it as a "willie warmer"!) Anyway, War Child will be performing the Aqualung album, in its entirety, plus many other of their outstanding Tull covers, on Saturday, August 14, 2010, at Sullivan Hall in the West Village. There will also be a Steely Dan tribute band performing the entire Asia album, and a Yes tribute band doing all of Close to the Edge, on this Battle of the Tribute band night. No doubts whatsoever that Icecreamman & Co. shall prevail! The proceedings will get underway at 8:30 p.m., and probably continue well past 2:00 a.m., however I am not sure at the moment which band goes on first. This is a Saturday night, folks, so it would be great if a group of area TJTB members can meet up there! That means you, TM, and of course all of our other Queens, New Jersey and Long Island members! Sullivan Hall is located at 214 Sullivan Street in NYC. Jeff

Sounds good. I'm going to try and make this. PS - Jeff, I just saw you're post. I take it you will be there? Yes, for sure. It's hard for me to get to their Long Island shows, so I always try to see them in the City. War Child is excellent. Did you know they have a string quartet and a ballerina (Mike's daughter) who comes out and dances for their Passion Play excerpts and one or two other things as well? I think you will like them a lot and you'll definitely get to meet Mike and the other guys in the band, including a fellow "Tull Paul," lead singer/flutist, Paul Caruso. If you are going to drive, you can meet me on the Upper West Side, where it will be much easier to park than down in the Village, and then we can take the subway down together. We can make some plans later this week. Jeff

The band sounded great and Paul did an admirable IA with both his singing and flute playing. The string 'quartet' was a really nice addition and added richness to the sound. I liked the attention to detail in how they replicated the strings the way they were done originally. They even went so far as to do the ending of Slipstream. My two favorite songs of the evening featured you prominently with The Third Hoorah and Sweet Dream. Those kicked ass. Have to admit that your version of Sweet Dream sounded so much better then Tull's version as of late. Nice to see the place was packed and everyone feeling that Tull spirit. Thanks for the invite and I am truly looking forward to seeing you guys again! Paul

Paul I wholeheartedly second that opinion, another fun performance by War Child, albeit only one set because of those other tribute bands, but hopefully soon War Child will be playing a "three-setter" with that thirty minute Brick that they do, and a good 15 minutes or so of Passion Play! Nice time getting together with TM, enjoying some Tull music and having a few cold ones in my old neighborhood! It brought back some memories of when I was living downtown. Jeff

WARCHILD will be performing its 2nd annual Halloween weekend show, this time at Sullivan Hall in Greenwich Village, NYC on Halloween Eve, Sat. Oct. 30th from 7-8:30pm (doors open at 6:30pm). Come dressed in a Tullian costume and receive a small gift from the band! After WARCHILD, stay to hear the Rolling Stones tribute band Glimmer Twins......it'll almost be like re-living the Rolling Stones Rock 'N' Roll Circus, but with 23 Tull songs in addition to "Song For Jeffrey" (and without Tony Iommi )....info about tix and directions can be found at www.sullivanhallnyc.comHope to see some of you Jethro Tull Boardians there!
