Thanks Jim, glad to know it Alabama - The Borderline In the safety of the badlands the outlaws stopped their run The campfire rings with laughter of evil things they've done How they'd taken all they wanted and killed the cowboy's wife And knew no one would follow them, cross the borderline.

I saw Joni Mitchell I believe in 1974. Her show was very cool back then. Joni Mitchell - "Raised On Robbery" Court and Spark, released in January 1974, would see Mitchell begin the flirtation with jazz and jazz fusion that marked her experimental period ahead, but it was also her most commercially successful recording, and among her most critically acclaimed. Court and Spark went to #1 on the Cashbox Album Charts.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joni_Mitchell

Linden Arden Stole the Highlights - V. Morrison
Linden Arden stole the highlights With one hand tied behind his back Loved the morning sun, and whiskey Ran like water in his veins Loved to go to church on Sunday Even though he was a drinking man When the boys came to San Francisco They were looking for his life But he found out where they were drinking Met them face to face outside Cleaved their heads off with a hatchet Lord, he was a drinkin' man And when someone tried to get above him He just took the law into his own hands
Linden Arden stole the highlights And they put his fingers through the glass He had heard all those stories many, many times before And he did not care no more to ask And he loved the little children like they were his very own He Said, "Someday it may get lonely." Now he's livin', livin' with a gun

Simon The Bullet Freak - Uriah Heep
Freed of empty faces Give me your money Make my life sunny for a day Road that leads to nowhere Please stop your crying I ain't fit for dying this way
Go steal another with your eye Go try some other heartless lie
Land of hopeless speaking Bringing back the moon Don't play your silly games with me Oh, war of wasted daydream What is your need I'm gonna bleed until you kill me
You've lost all sight of your direction You're only looking for the next one The next one to kill
Ashes of destruction Spread out so far Blackened others crying over me See a one time city Now just a scar Tears of the flower man Fill the sea
Give me a chance to fly away There's nothing here for me today Today
Simon the bullet freak ...

Lookout Joe - Neil Young
Lookout Joe, you're comin' home. Old times were good times, Old times were good times.
Remember Millie from down in Philly? She took my brain and forgot my name. The woman you were with was about the same She took your money and left town.

Are You Ready For The Country - Neil Young
Slipping and sliding and playing domino Lefting and then Righting, it's not a crime you know. You gotta tell your story boy, before it's time to go.
Are you ready for the country because it's time to go? Are you ready for the country because it's time to go?

Give me Back My Freedom - Peter Green
They put me in the jailhouse They take away my money Treat me like a white mouse Man that isn't funny Lock the door and throw away the key No one is allowed to comfort me
Give me back my freedom Let me see the daylight Make them stop the bleeding Can't you see it ain't right
Put me on the chain gang And work me till I can't stand Say it's for my brother They treat me like a martyr
Put me in a false society Make me something I don't want to be
Give me back my freedom And let me see the daylight Make them stop the bleeding Can't you see it ain't right

Free Money - Pattie Smith
Every night before I go to sleep Find a ticket, win a lottery, Scoop the pearls up from the sea Cash them in and buy you all the things you need.
Every night before I rest my head See those dollar bills go swirling 'round my bed. I know they're stolen, but I don't feel bad. I take that money, buy you things you never had.
Oh, baby, it would mean so much to me, Oh, baby, to buy you all the things you need for free. I'll buy you a jet plane, baby, Get you on a higher plane to a jet stream And take you through the stratosphere And check out the planets there and then take you down Deep where it's hot, hot in Arabia, babia, then cool, cold fields of snow And we'll roll, dream, roll, dream, roll, roll, dream, dream. When we dream it, when we dream it, when we dream it, We'll dream it, dream it for free, free money, Free money, free money, free money, free money, free money, free money.

Me And Julio - Simon & Garfunkel
Mama pyjama rolled outta bed, she ran to the police station When the cop found out, he began to shout, he started the investigation And it's against the law, it was against the law What what mama saw, it was against the law
Mama looked down and spit on the ground ever time her name gets mentioned The cop said oy, if I get that boy I'm gonna stick him in the house of detention Well I'm on my way, I don't know where I'm goin' I'm on my way, takin' my time, but I don't know where
Goodbye to Rosie, the queen of Corona Seein' me and Julio down by the schoolyard Seein' me and Julio down by the schoolyard

Murder By Numbers - Zappa & Sting
Once that you've decided on a killing First you make a stone of your heart If you find that your hands are still willing Then you can turn a murder into art There really isn't any need for bloodshed You just do it with a little more finesse
If you can slip a tablet into someone's coffee Then it avoids an awful lot of mess because It's murder by numbers one two three It's as easy to learn as your ABC Murder by numbers one two three It's as easy to learn as your ABC

Intruder - Peter Gabriel
I know something about opening windows and doors I know how to move quietly to creep across creaky wooden floors I know where to find precious things in all your cupboards and drawers Slipping the clippers Slipping the clippers through the telephone wires The sense of isolation inspires Inspires me I like to feel the suspense when I'm certain you know I am there I like you lying awake, your bated breath charging the air I like the touch and the smell of all the pretty dresses you wear Intruders happy in the dark Intruder come Intruder come and leave his mark, leave his mark

You Can't Always Get What You Want - The Rolling Stones
I saw her today at the reception In her glass was a bleeding man She was practiced at the art of deception Well I could tell by her blood-stained hands
And that's all for this month, no more crimes songs from my own.
Apart from that I'd like most of you read that well the title of this Stones' song to understand what I've really wanted to impart over here from the very beginning in, (from last March of 2012 to these days of 2013, nearly a year, oh! amazingly I've stood the test,) just the social intercourse between the Tull music fans with other music styles, bands and obviously the knowledge of something else new or which was forgotten by us, however it hasn't been enough to acquire a decent esteem around and today I'm still wonderin' why this thought was that incovenient to be still working in its wholeness?, and yes, again I'm specifying the shut old and passionate threads we all were having fun back then through this long and unforgettable year, at least for myself.
I hope one day ops rethink the matter and fix the thing into how was workin' before.
If this is not even at least read or discussed here, so I'll be taking for granted you are considering me as a damn criminal chap for my continous repetitive and weary claims. Sorry if this is like that. It's only rock and roll but I like it.
Thanks to all the contributors who have made this story possible.
Best regards
A soul with a sign.

Hang on pal!
‘Crimes and Misdemeanours’ was my suggestion (after watching the Woody Allen movie) , I did the original list of contributors, so as the month draws to a close it seems only fair that I get some final thoughts on this topic?
Generally speaking I think it is a decent idea to have this topic monthly. It increases the traffic to the site and, given the universally recognised fine taste in music of Jethro Tull fans, there are always some gems to be found – new ones and old favourites (re) discovered – this month Joni Mitchell whose music I have neglected.
But I don’t think there is any real need to go to the trouble of reprinting lyrics. Or a running list of contributors. Don't think it adds much. Not really.
And it would be much improved if there was even a tenuous Tull connection?
But hey! Life is short!
So let’s close with a singalong. All together now…
Icy L
PS four posts is a one day record for me. I'm off now to have a lie down with Joni Mitchell.

IcyL I agree, no reason not to keep this running, maybe as you suggest, if the lyrics are needed then maybe just a short extract. Also as you suggest a Tull link would be useful, but that may restrict things too much, but if any poster knows of one, then throw it in for our general interest. So, who's nominating the February theme?

Well, February is Valentines day month, we could do 'love' or is that entirely too easy, not to mention, cliche and cheesey. LOL

LOL Moth, I'm thinking that would be like a never ending tsunami of love song videos. Arent most all pop/rock/r&b and c&w songs concerned with L O V E, or a lack of ? Could be like pressing the "wrong" button at a sewage treatment plant!! Darin

I like making it more specific like that, one of yours is good, Quizz. It may be more challenging, and it's a challenge as far as Tull, I mean, you'd have to think about that one, they aren't heavy on the love songs, which I like...that gets so tiring...some other bands are like that...for instance Rush doesn't seem big on the love songs. I don't particularly care for them, when I got married I didn't even have a love song to dance to, they had to pick one for us. 'Our song' is actually 'Wind Up' that might not have been well received by our guests but looking back...we should've done it.
