He said last year there'd be a string quartet re-do of some Tull material - and a solo acoustic disc - in 2013 [and he DID have all that time off over the holidays]. But - the TAAB2 tour continues throughout 2013, so hard to see any new releases while he's still touring that. Maybe towards the end of the year?

Ian floated quite a few situations in the AND interview (that I believe your referring to Tomn) the recording of acoustic songs with string quartet, then said something about a hard rock album which I would imagine being new material (?). Then in another maybe part 2 of the AND interview he said that maybe he and Martin would go out on tour as an acoustic duo........2014 maybe? When is he going to tour any new material recorded in this coming November. He has the Ian Anderson solo band slated now to start some best of Jethro Tull dates..........which "I" think is about to be christened Jethro Tull (when ever their in a country that will behave itself ;-)) Darin Just wondering Cody Looking forward to some 5.1s better start saving up.

I can't think of how Ian would continue the story of Gerald lyrically since the last album--where would it go?? He may want to take a good break from doing anything after a two year tour--but perhaps to write some new material

Thanks to everyone for the info. The two boys together on stage again. It would be delicious, really, isn't it? Darin, I didn't know about a possible Tour of Ian, even with Martin ... This would be for me, beyond all hope.

Looks like Thick As A Brick 3 is on the cards. Gerald's blog hinted at it last week and now we have it confirmed in the Janice Long interview that Darin posted. I'm delighted Ian is riding the wave, its clearly the most commercially successful thing he's done in a long long time but TAAB2 isn't something I find myself wanting to listen to too much. Still, as long as Ian is writing and recording count me in!

I like the idea of TAAB3 and that it'll be a real rock album! ......I wonder if IA will substitute his little acoustic for an electric one? or would he be able make amends and get MB to play along with FO? ..... Wouldn't be surprised if Ryan O'Donnell has a part to play on it too.

Does that mean? A band of leather bound gentleman are escorting him across the sand? JUST in time " A Thick and Passionate Brick" "What would Gerald do?"

Ha! couple weeks, better than "20 years too late".. at least now the recent Gerald pics can be used for TAAB 3, 4 and 5!

A New Day issues #106 and #107 are now out which feature information about Ian's new album and an interview with Martin.
Ian has completed the lyrics and has the basic music of TAAB3 completed and will head back into the studio (with the current band) in November to record it. It's due out early 2014.

Well howabout that! Thanks for the info Paul. I'm a little surprised he is continuing the Thick as a Brick story, but then again it makes sense. This is the first charting album he's had in over a decade, isn't it? I wonder how much this one will differ from TAAB2--I would expect he'd have to throw a few surprises in there to keep people interested.

Dont jinx it by putting on any expectations Kai!! I wonder how much if any Ryan will record with them this time, and is Ryan a permanent member? The Martin interview is very good, but without any good news about ever playing with Tull again. He seems genuinely happy with his new named band "The Martin Barre Band"!! going to be stripped down to a four piece retaining Dan Crisp on vocals!! (a great move IMHO) Pressed by David Rees a bit he reluctantly volunteered that if Ian and he were going to do some Acoustic Tull tour, just the 2 of them as Ian had mentioned in an earlier AND, he hadn't heard anything from Ian about it and since Ian plans so far ahead, it probably won't happen in 2014.... Once again (elsewhere) there are people who seem to want to run him down as a "whiner" it's amazing that some of these people are able to feed themselves. I read the same thing they did and I got nothing like that. Maybe they have a hard time with reading comprehension. Or just in general. Darin Elite Cody

Now if they could just get a guitarist with a nice heavy chunky sound....... instead of an off the shelf cheesy fuzz box........ Okay, okay just kidding......Flo will do what hes told.

Well, we all like Flo, but we're calling for: Very well put Paul. Why thank you Darin. I have to admit that I've always considered myself among the elite Tull fans too.

Darin Elite Cody I read the interview last night and in no way does Martin come across as a whiner. Instead, it's very obvious that Martin was hurt when Ian told him and Doane that he hates playing Jethro Tull concerts and never wants to do it again. I can't imagine any Tull fan (of sound mind) that can not empathize with Martin. It's also worth noting that as I skimmed the last few pages of the issue, I read some of the letters to Dave from the readers. To no surprise everyone I saw came out in support of Martin and was angry at Ian. Of course Ian addressed that situation last year by telling us all to FUCK OFF if we don't like what he's doing. As ironic as it may be, I would have preferred the more subtle approach he used to start TAAB in 1972. Really don't mind if you sit this one out. TeliteM
