Well I'd say it was closer to 25/30% but there are about a hundred and fifty seven and a half videos of last years tour on YouTube . I know some would like to avoid spoiling the "surprise" by looking at videos of the exact show your goi g to see but if your wondering ......it's all there Tommie Darin

You are both on my list!
TM, wish I could've come with you and Fingas, so much fun last time. I was just talking about when he tried to get me over to where you two were sitting and we smashed heads and I fell on the floor. I wish he'd come back on here!
What else...oh! So ok. I think IA sang most of TAAB2, but would you guys agree that Ryan sang half if not more than that of TAAB1? Is that more realistic or still the 25-30 percent?

He's not into all the "crazies" out there. I told him that we've cleaned the place up quite a bit recently but I don't know if he's buying it. It's tough for me to put a number on it. Whatever it was it was too much! ;D All I know is that Fingas was so pissed every time Ryan sang. Especially during Locomotive Breath. We both felt he had no business singing at Ian's expense. If Ian wants to give him something to do, how about they both sing? It's bad enough we have to watch someone else play Martin's guitar parts. Now we have to listen to someone else sing too?

When he says crazies, he's referring to me, isn't he! haha
I wonder if Ryan sang most of TAAB the first part, so IA could save his voice for part two, doing the majority of that. There was a couple parts they sang together but probably IA is just telling him when to sing. I think it's sad IA needs help now, but Ryan is probably the best choice. I was just realizing he looks a lot like my son, which has nothing to do with anything, but it's weird, I think I know what my child will look like in 25 years now! I love Martin. Amazing guitarist. Sweetest band member I had met. Florian is kind of sexy.
And Tommie should be able to ask questions of this kind! I'd want to ask you guys, my friends, the people in the know rather than go search the internets for an answer! Yes, I'm being sassy.

No. You see there are good crazies (you) and then there are the crazies. Trust me, there's quite a difference. I've said this before, but if I was to select a singer to help Ian or for Martin's band it would be Paul Forrest. I don't know why these guys wouldn't want someone who truly sounds like Ian. I know I'm in the minority but I didn't care for the theatrical performance that Ryan brings with him. Admittedly he's not a singer, he's an actor, and I found it distracting. Perhaps it's naive to think that these guys aren't all acting to some degree, but it just a bit too contrived. Sorry, but I will not comment on Florian's sexiness since men do not discuss such things.

I know, where are all the other women at? haha.
I wonder if IA has asked him to be that theatrical or if he just made it up because he's been in theatre. I'll have to give Paul Forrest a listen...I think I have his wife on my Facebook but I can't remember if I've listened to him or not.

They're good, I'd go see them. Ryan is a year or two younger than me and Florian is about three years younger. I was surprised at first when I learned that because there hasn't been anyone that young since when...when Giddings joined over twenty years ago? Is he maybe trying to attract more of a young crowd?

Paul left the band and him and Marcie moved to Israel. We got to see them perform in NYC a couple years ago. They were very good. My take is that the "new" guys are more affordable and more amenable and that makes it a no-brainer for Ian.

So they're not together anymore. That's unfortunate.
I didn't think of it that way...

in the show i saw of thick as a brick 1-2 in tulsa..ryan only sang about 20-30% of the time. it truely was only the parts of the original album that has notes ian cannot manage anymore. the show overall was really very good, and the band was tight and just loud enough. it does somewhat amaze me that after touring the entire world...they are just going to do it all over again..i will go and see the same show this july in kansas city. first time in awhile i have seen ian or tull twice in 8 months. i do believe at some point mr anderson will need to retire so i will continue to go as long as he continues to perform close by. truely i feel gifted to be able to see TAAB 1-2 twice live...who would have thought???

In TAAB 1, Ryan sings just over half. Maybe 55%. Part 2, IA sings most of the time. Maybe with all that put together it really does add up to the lower percentage.
My source is that a few weeks ago during one of my long commutes I decided to put it on and yes, I geeked out and did count how many lines was sung by each. For the first part only.

Hope everyone's been well! Well, we believe that Ian wouldn't want anyone who sounds exactly like a younger version of him, simply because it may make him "uncomfortable". I thought it was an amazing gesture on Ian's part to invite Paul to perform with Tull in 2008 as it was. As far as Martin asking Paul to join his band, we have the sneaking suspicion that he's not into the "tribute artist" scene, and wanted different vocalists for his shows.
