I was excited about this until I realized that I - as most avid Tull aficionados - already have all of this. On the other hand, the quality is likely to be substantially improved on much of the material, so I look forward to it.
No one expected material from the TAAB or APP tours, but this would have been the perfect occasion to release the Paris, July 1975 footage that none of us have seen (other than snippets). That would have been way too much of a surprise. Could that come out as a separate release one of these days?

I for one am looking forward to it (hopefully there is a US) release. A good collection of concerts for a fair price. I always look forward to a Tull DVD.
Hopefully they do end up filming one of these TAAB2 shows. Not the worst idea.

I thought there was a show shot in Iceland........? The Montreaux show I believe was one they couldnt do the video with the show. Then I again I could be completely wrong.... This, from Tull Management, shot in different shows in England with audio from a soundcheck somewhere. Darin

Arrived this lunchtime. Top class item, beautiful presentation, as you'd expect. Plenty to look at and read - an excellent addition to the Tull library - sits nicely on the shelf next to the TAAB set - and an essential purchase. Great value too. Enjoy! Icy L

Great packaging as already stated ..somewhat disappointed with the actual footage. The 1980 part is frustrating as it appears to be directly taken from the TV broadcast with no editing..eg interview section complete with German and English subtitles then song then interview again.
Surely the interview could have been contained in one section leaving the viewer to enjoy the tunes without interuption

I hadn't seen any Stormwatch tour footage before so was a little disappointed to find that it seems very similar to the 1978 tour in sound and presentation. Also, the 1996 gig finds IA in terrible shape vocally, sadly. I'd have loved the pro-filmed Under Wraps tour footage to have been included instead.

Any idea why the magnificent '75 footage wasn't included? I'd say this, plus the 1977 Sight & Sound (also unreleased officially) and the 1978 MSG are the best examples of Tull filmed live.

Any idea why the magnificent '75 footage wasn't included? I'd say this, plus the 1977 Sight & Sound (also unreleased officially) and the 1978 MSG are the best examples of Tull filmed live. There's a story that Barrie Barlow relates in an interview (I think it's posted here somewhere, a drummer Mag, In the Doghouse with Barrimore Barlow) about Ian sending releases to all the band members, himself, Jeffery, Evans and Barre, for a video. But in it it states that greater compensation goes to those that had full screen time, not counting fingers on fret boards or obscured by cymbals kind of things. Which meant Ian, being out front would collect the lion share of the money by appearing more than the others, and Barry and the others would not sign the release under those circumstances. He didn't say which video it was but it could've been " Golders Green" or the "Paris 75". I'm not on my computer and I have the article bookmarked. I'll re-post it when I find it. Darin

I'll save you the trouble DC. JM: You mentioned last night that you had actually seen Ian recently and had dinner with him.BB: Yes, we've sort of buried the hatchet. But the hatchets were out only a couple of years ago when there was talk of a DVD being made. We had a letter from Ian describing the percentage of the deal, which included, and I kid you not - if you weren't in shot, you didn't get paid, and I quote, "Flailing drumsticks or fingers on fretboards will not qualify. You have to be full in shot," which I rallied vehemently against. You know what a showman Ian is so he just took all the shots. We crossed swords then. John [Evan], Jeff and I were all of the opinion and we just refused to sign it. Read more: thejethrotullboard.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=band&action=display&thread=1931#ixzz2WaCU1J5U

OH!!! and after I did all that searching and delicious reading. Really love this interview, don't know why I like hearing him so much, just seems such a honest straight shooter and being as good as he is/was you just have to pay attention. I recommend all of his interviews in the AND "A New Day Tapes" funny as hell and eye opening. Here is a bit more of the interview that Paul snaked me on!: JM: Of the numerous Tull drummers, did you ever have the chance to meet up with any and/or see them play? BB: Yes, I saw Tull play last summer with Doane [Perry], very nice chap. JM: You mentioned last night that you had actually seen Ian recently and had dinner with him. BB: Yes, we've sort of buried the hatchet.
JM: So the DVD didn't come out? BB: It came out but I don't think we we're even featured in it. But there was a music royalty he split, but he divided it between visual and music in terms of royalties. I can't help thinking "How 'bout some simple recognition of what this band played?" With all deference and respect to the incarnations after that line up, they were mediocre, I'm sorry to say.
JM: No apologies. I agree, there's no comparison. I've seen Tull several times and I remember the Heavy Horses and Stormwatch tours - that was one spectacular band. You're the only drummer I've seen give Terry Bozzio a run for his money. BB: I had to follow Terry on a couple of tours when UK opened for us. My God, you should have seen him at rehearsals and at sound-checks playing "The Black Page." F-----g hell! JM: Yeah, he's pretty serious. BB: We did two tours together; Terry would be at the side of the stage for the entirety of our show. He's such a lovely, warm, tactile bloke. JM: Very genuine. BB: Very. I get goose bumps just thinking about that. He's such a lovely man, and what a fantastic player. But God, if you have to follow him you've gotta have your shit together. JM: You had yours together and that was quite a tour for any drummer to see: the two of you guys back to back. Getting back to Ian, you had a nice dinner and buried some hatchets. Any possibility of a reunion in the future? BB: When I listened to A Passion Play a couple of years ago, I thought, "Wouldn't it be great just to do a couple of shows, get that band back together?" No subsequent incarnation of the band has gone anywhere near that music. For diehard Tull fans I understand that's a favorite. I'd relish the challenge personally, but sadly John Evan doesn't play anymore, he can't play anymore due to his fingers tensing up. JM: Tendonitis? BB: Yeah, I mentioned it to Jeffrey as well, and I've mentioned it to John, who's my oldest friend, he's like my brother. And Jeffrey is as well. You know, it started with Ian, John, Jeffrey and I, before Tull was Tull. They were all together as an entity and I was this real punk that turned up from Birmingham you know looking for a gig. Sort of full of myself a bit, I suppose. thejethrotullboard.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=band&action=display&thread=1931#ixzz29ZqZc5hkDarin

I presume Barrie is talking about the "Classic Artists" DVD....I like Barrie a lot, he's one of my all time favourite Tull members but blocking the footage does seem a bit "toys out of the pram" just to deny IA the lions share of the royalties...the fans miss out big time.

I just received my copy of Around The World Live, which I had put off getting because like many of you, I already have 90% of this. I finally gave in thinking that what was here was somehow "improved" upon, cleaned up like pros would want to do it.
WRONG. I'm a little pissed. The Isle of Wight "My God" flute solo was edited. The film quality was seemingly the same, as with the sound. Tampa on the other hand was like a 3rd or 4th generation video copy. Just bad. I have the original offering and its very nice comparatively. The Ohne Filter "Stormwatch" was "OK" except for the bass rattle about halfway through. (I once edited out the interview and corrected the song order on a much worse copy) How hard would it have been to do this? From the 1st DVD to the begining of the 2nd CD we have gone from 1970 to the mid nineties not only shorting the 70s but skipping footage of the Walk into Light stuff, the Crest of a Knave footage I've seen and the great 93 shows. All of whats there of the 80s and later are fine......the quality is fine.
Just seems a total shame that major chunks of their most profitable and creative period are missing. If this included Paris 75 and Golders Green 77 I might feel a little less........just out some money. Ian, Please at some point just pay the boys what they deserve and get these things released. for me? PLease. I would surely have loved to post some glowing and loving words here about a "new" DVD release. I'll wait....... Darin Cody
