Does anyone have any info about this amazing instrumental played during a 1976 show in Tampa, Fla.? The DVD just calls it "instrumental / drum solo". Did it ever have a formal title? Who wrote it? (Im guessing either Martin and / or the entire band minus Ian, who leaves the stage for it) Does a recorded copy of it exist anywhere else, in any format, other than this here clip?

I'm not a hundred percent sure but I guess it was written by the band for the 76 tour and as far as I know was never titled. I have spent many years searching for Tull films form this era. There is a serious lack of pro-film of the band with Barrimore from 72-75. Somewhere there is another half to this Tampa show plus another 76 show from Landover and a 70 minute pro-film from Paris 1975! None of thse films have been made available to this date. You can hear a cut of Passion Play from the 75 Paris show on the 25th anniversary "Live Across The World" disc. As for the 76 instrumental, there is a soundboard recording out there from LA 1976 which is pretty good. A couple years ago I put together some silent 8mm film from Italy synced with an actual boot recording of the same concert. Just bits and pieces but it's shot right behind the drum kit which would make it slightly more interesting to a drummer. Check it out.

This is a re-work of some earlier bits they used to do during the encore that was developing over a couple few years part of it became the instrumental of Minstrel and they used this with some new stuff as a vehicle for Barrie's solo, which btw is way too short here. The LA sound board version, that Tulltapes mentioned is very good. In case you haven't heard, say a boot called Supercharged has one of the best of Barrie's solos on it. Quite a few whole "Brick shows also. These are 15 minute solos. The encores from 72 on we're really great bits that I think Martin, John and Barrie worked out and were a vehicle for Martins Solos. A lot of the best band stuff is in there.Absolutely the best. Darin

@tulltapes and Darin, Thanks for the info! I am a newcomer here, and very inexperienced when it comes to finding bootlegs, so if my questions are a bit naïve plz forgive Where might I find and purchase / acquire a copy of the LA soundboard recording of this tune? And now I must get a copy of "Supercharged". What are some good ways to find / acquire Tull bootlegs? Obviously I realize this board is a great avenue to these goals, but how might I hone the effort? I will of course go to the 'bootleg' section of the board right after posting this...
