Ahh, my favorite season is upon us. Autumn! If this remaining heat would just go away.
I'm making a fall-like music playlist on my iPod. Anyone have any ideas...Tull related? I'm having a mental block and can only think of Heavy Horses right now. I have several Blackmore's Night songs because some are pretty obvious...now I'm looking for Tull to add.

Songs From The Wood, Crest, Roots, 20 years boxset (the disc with Part of the Machine & Overhang)

I am so in love with the 20 year set. Amazing...unfortunately I killed it. Ok, well now I know what to look up on iTunes.
(My best loved CDs end up being the most dead)
SFTW always had that feeling to it, I know someone else from the old board said they only played it every fall. Interesting.

As much as I like Tull's wonderful fall music, let's not move too fast. It's been a unprecedented long beautiful hot sunny summer in Seattle (the land of rain) and I'm in no hurry for it to end!

I received a PM asking about suggesting any music, not just Tull. I say...sure, why not?
Mttbsh, too late, the weather, trees and the time it gets dark, if you look close are all slightly beginning to change here in Northern New England, which also has some of the best fall scenery on the planet....I'm uncomfortable in too much heat.
Also, I just want my playlist ready! I've already finished the Christmas playlist because obviously that's easier to sort out. =]

Hmmmm....
Leaves falling red, yellow, brown, all are the same, and the love you have found lay outside in the rain. Washed clean by the water but nursing its pain. The witch's promise was coming, and you're looking elsewhere for your own selfish gain.
-or-
The weather's on the change Lines joint in faint discord and the stormwatch brews A concert of kings as the white sea snaps At the heels of a soft prayer whispered
-or-
Iron-clad feather-feet pounding the dust, an October's day towards evening Sweat embossed veins standing proud to the plough, salt on a deep chest, seasoning Bring me a wheel of oaken wood, a rein of polished leather A heavy horse and a tumbling sky, brewing heavy weather
-or-
I draw around me like a cloak and soundless glide a-drifting on eddies whirled in beech leaves furled brown and gold they fly in the warm mesh of sunlight sifting now from a cloudless sky.
-or-
Good morning Weathercock: How did you fare last night? Did the cold wind bite you, did you face up to the fright When the leaves spin from October and whip around your tail? Did you shake from the blast, did you shiver through the gale?
And beyond Jethro Tull, how about:
Indian Summer - The Doors When Ye Go Away - The Waterboys Ramble On - Led Zeppelin Moondance - Van Morrison Forever Autumn - The Moody Blues Autumn Almanac - The Kinks Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground - The White Stripes Leaves that are Green - Simon & Garfunkel Harvest Moon - Neil Young October - U2
And one of my favorite poems, written by Graeme Edge of The Moody Blues:
When the white eagle of the North Is flying overhead And the browns, reds and golds of autumn Lie in the gutter, dead
Remember then, the summer birds With wings of fire flaying Come to witness Spring's new hope Born of leaves decaying
As new life will come from death Love will come at leisure Love of love, love of life And giving without measure
Gives in return a wondrous yearn Of a promise almost seen Live hand-in-hand And together we'll stand
On the threshold of a dream....

Very good post Morthoron, great suggestions. Didn't know you were a White Stripes fan.

My main focus is always the music. I love you guys in helping me pay attention to lyrics. I simply don't take enough time, but when I do I'm so often moved by Ian's sharp analysis, his personal view. Oh Tull makes me so happy!!!

Thanks to everyone I have forty-something songs on Fall playlist. Another I added and its the only one that's a little less about autumn leaves and stuff and more Halloweenish is Pet Sematary by The Ramones.
