Don't know if there is already a thread about this realease, I couldn't find it so decided to create one. This was posted in Steven Wilson's Official Facebook page: "Steven’s new stereo / 5.1 surround sound mix of the third album by Yes (official), 1970’s The Yes Album will be released on the 14th April, and is now available to pre-order from both Headphone Dust and Burning Shed. Fully approved by the band, The Yes album will be available in a choice of either CD/Blu-Ray in a vinyl replica gatefold card sleeve, or CD/DVD in digipack. Both feature a booklet featuring new notes by Sid Smith, rare photos and archive material, and plentiful bonus audio material, including studio out-takes, live versions, single edits, instrumentals…etc. In addition, Steven’s stereo / 5.1 remix of Jethro Tull's 1973 album A Passion Play has been announced for release on 13th June as a deluxe 2 CD / 2 DVD set, including new mixes of both the album itself and the “lost” album recorded at Château d'Hérouville in 1972, for the first time in its complete 60 minute form. Note that this release is not yet available to pre-order. June release date sounds great! Looking forward to this.
It was talked about that some of the original sax was going to be removed from APP. I hope that isn't the case.
And do we know if the Chateau tapes are going to be the originals or contain some of the added flute parts that were included for Nightcap?

I think we'll have everything as original as possible. I read somewhere SW was going to remove the overdubs recorded for the release of the Nightcap album, which I think to be a good ideia. It makes no sense taking out the sax parts from APP, I doubt he did it.

I am looking forward to this more than any other Tull remaster.

Not only cleaning up the tracks but I guess the song 'Sailor' is included ( but to be honest , I never thought it sounded that great on the bootlegs kicking around) . I'm sure the parts released on Nightcap are going to sound different without the added flute. There are a couple of elements in the new release, "Cold Dead Reckoning" that are reminiscent of Chateau and wonder if Ian going back and listening to the mixes had any influence. Dan

I also read somewhere that a few verses that were left out of APP are included on the remix. Either that or I was dreaming.

Will there be any flute on Chateau? Didn't realise it was added at a later stage - love it!

Just wondering if added flute parts were added because there was none, or added to add more. But not long to wait for it either - I was expecting a November release.

So, anyone know why Wilson didn't mix H.E.? I've thought the same thing. Maybe Ian has learned a thing or two from him. I've never been too fond of Ian's production and engineering skills to be honest. Still, I'll withhold judgement until I hear it all over my own system.

Did he mix the surround version?

Did SW need to mix HE? From what I've heard so far, whilst I really do enjoy Taab2 SOO MUCH, I think the overall sound of HE is going to be better. I enjoy SW's work and absolutely love his Raven and other stories album, but maybe his time is better used with remixing classic Tull? Another thought, maybe it's down to cost? Only a couple of short snippets of Ryan on Taab2, but on HE he's going to be more prominent in places, which means more money. Why pay SW to mix when IA when can do a grand job?

How does Ryan's prominence mean additional cost?

How does Ryan's prominence mean additional cost? Ryan sings, Ian pays. Me thinks this is the first time anyone but Ian has sung on a Tull or IA release.

Yes, but I meant in terms of mixing the record. Singers on Tull/Ian records beside Ryan: Maddy Prior, Najma Akhtar, John Glasscock, Dave Pegg, and Peter Vettese.

How much did Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond get for the Hare Who Lost His Spectacles. These are production costs.

I wouldn't know about costs to mix a record and cost to performers. It was a thought that occurred to me whilst having too many Russian beers. Glad Ryan has a bit more of singing role and it seems that IA has done a splendid job on producing/mixing the album. I don't know what SW would have brought to the table had he mixed it; I enjoy his work and he's done wonders with classic Tull so far - role on June
